Hi Guys,

I mentioned yesterday that Matt and I were going out to dinner for a special treat.  Remember when we went to a restaurant week brunch and decided not to do a restaurant week dinner ?  Well, we set aside the money we would have spent on a dinner so that we could enjoy a fancy meal without the limited menu options of restaurant week and on a random night.  The other reason we decided to do this is because the restaurant we were dying to try did not participate in restaurant week this year.

Excited for date night!

We set out on foot to our destination on a gorgeous evening. Dusk is such a beautiful time and its my favorite part of the day.  I tried to capture some of the scenes from our walk.

But two pictures in, I realized my camera battery was getting low.  I didn’t know exactly how long it would last since this is a new camera, but I was so mad at myself for not remembering to check on this before leaving.  Argghhh.

I figured I could get a few more pictures out of the battery and made the stupid mistake of going a little camera crazy when we got to the restaurant.  If you can’t read the sign, it’s Hamersley’s Bistro in the South End!

The patio was just so adorable; I couldn’t help it!

We were seated at this romantic table for two.

I ordered a glass of white.  This was reserve pinot gris from the Trimbach winery in France.  It was slightly sweet and perfectly summery.

And then my camera died.

I was soo mad and sad.  I had to remind myself that this dinner was about enjoying wonderful food in a romantic setting, which would still happen without my camera!!

The bread basket arrived and I had a piece of spongy focaccia with butter.

For my entrée, I ordered the New England bluefish with black beans, white rice, and tomato-coriander salsa.

Wow.  You’re just going to have to trust me on this one. There were so many flavors in this dish, yet they were all distinct. When I combined them into a bite, they didn’t really blend; they complimented each other, while still remaining separate.  It was glorious.

Matt was quite pleased with his garlic and herb chicken as well.  The overall experience was awesome and so was the art in the bathroom…

Remember when women looked like this?

Oh my gosh, totally been there! We went on a date night to downtown Disney and I brought my big camera but it died before we even stepped foot in the restaurant, I had left my P&S at home and my iPhone died. I think it was a sign to just enjoy the meal. 😉

Sucky about the camera battery! Here’s what worked for me: order another one (generic = OK) from ebay. It will cost you <$20 and then you'll always have an extra one. 🙂
