How goes it?
I entertained Ralph for the day and it was nice having an older boy for a change. Ralph can do so many more things than the 2, 3, and 4-year-olds I’ve been with all summer. We played catch, basketball, and a few board games and the day flew by.
After work, I got to exercise at a special location!
Those of you who live in the area have probably heard about Healthworks (the all women’s gym) because quite a few Boston bloggers have worked out there in the past. Well, the Events & Partnerships Marketing Coordinator got word that there is a new blog in town and was kind enough to send me a pass to try Healthworks. I actually did a spinning class there a while back with a friend, but I was in and out quickly and didn’t really think much about the experience. So, even though I’m not on the market for a new gym (I use my university’s gym), I was quite excited to explore Healthworks. I’d definitely consider joining if I were a working woman.
Today, I took the grand tour, jogged on the treadmill while switching between Oprah and Say Yes to the Dress, and enjoyed the luxurious locker room. I wasn’t there during a peak time, but the gym was soo quiet; it’s definitely a peaceful, spa-like gym which was quite nice in comparison to my crowded college fitness center. The quality of the machines was pretty much the same as my gym, but all the little touches, like free WIFI, Q-tips and nice shampoo, and cable (with subtitles!!!) on personal TVs are what make this gym so fun. I’ve never been one to mind working out with males, but a lot of women feel more comfortable without them, so I guess that’s a plus too. I also spent some time in the steam room (with eucalyptus oil) and felt fabulous when I came out. I always seem to be in a rush at the gym, so it was nice to just relax and enjoy the amenities. I’m hoping to try a class tomorrow, so I’ll let you know how it goes.
I left Healthworks feeling refreshed and went straight to Borders where my quiet afternoon continued in the planner section. I think i might have found the one, but I’m going to check another location for a different cover design. Matt was on his way home from work at about this time, so I waited for him in Copley Square so that we could walk home together. I was wearing a t-shirt and was pretty cold. I tend to forget that there’s not much transition time in Boston before the temperatures start to drop. It even looked a little bit like fall today…
I found Matt!
PS – the sky had nice stripes this evening…
Once home, I got started on dinner by mixing together a bunch of spices to make blackened tilapia. I always order blackened seafood in restaurants and love it, but I never remember to try making it at home. Tonight was the night.
I dipped these guys in butter before seasoning them and throwing them onto a hot pan.
I traded with my friend Joe to get this frozen mushroom risotto. It’s easy and one of my favorite sides.
The final product was served with a dollop of chive yogurt dip to compliment the spiciness. This was delicioso and really hit the spot!
Dinner was on the small side to leave room for…
Key Lime frozen yogurt! I’m lovin’ this flavor and will be sad when it’s rotated out. Matt and I walked home while eating these and it was quite chilly. I’m sad to say that I think frozen yogurt season might be over:( I’m about to go watch the Lovely Bones and I’m excited to compare it to the book. Nothing like a trip to the eucalyptus steam room, a home-cooked meal, a fun dessert, and a movie to spice up a Thursday evening!

I also like blackened fish, and this tilapia looks yummy. I love your comment about “trading with Joe”… very clever :).
