Iron Woman

Uncategorized

I don’t iron. The last time I used my iron, I burned a hole in my carpet and then ironed the gooey burnt carpet onto a shirt. I usually throw anything with wrinkles into my dryer right before I put it on and it works just fine. However, Matt and I decided to do a load of delicates (aka nice clothes we never wash) and they came out in a big ball of tight wrinkles. So, today was the day. I also don’t have an ironing board, but I made due with a towel over my ikea kitchen table. Three hours later, I had done four more loads of laundry and found myself ironing my sheets and duvet cover. Who irons bedding? You see, I have these Vera Wang sheets with cute ruffles, but the ruffles will never lay flat after I wash them and I finally fixed them today! I even brought out the old needle and thread and hemmed a pair of pants. First ironing, now sewing? I guess I’m becoming more domestic because I am about to hit the quarter century mark…

Speaking of iron, my legs felt like jello today from yesterday’s squats and left lifts. I had signed up for a noon-time spinning class and debated whether or not I really wanted to spend 45 minutes pedaling with my sore legs. But, I know it’s good to use sore muscles and given this weekends eats, I figured exercise was probably a good idea. And I was pleasantly surprised. The minute I got on the bike, it felt like someone was massaging my legs. Who knew?

Lunch was pretty typical, but it sure tasted great after so much ironing and spinning.

This afternoon, I also did a little cooking with an experimental bean dip. I looked for navy beans at the grocery store but couldn’t find them and these looked similar. I’ve never heard of Northern beans?? I used some of Kath’s dip recipes as guidelines for quantities, but ended up just throwing stuff in the food processor based on taste….

The final product included banana peppers, greek yogurt, lemon juice, red pepper flakes, salt + pepper, and dill.

To be honest, this dip is on the bland side, but it still tastes pretty good with pita chips.
I’m off to get ready for another work week. I’ll be back with a recap of my wonderful dinner tomorrow.
Enjoy the Evening!

My Grandmother irons her sheets =) I remember when I lived with her for a while she’d make me iron them, it was such a pain.

I also iron my bedding when necessary. 🙂 There is something satisfying about it.

I am enjoying your blog- I love seeing where people go out to eat in Boston, it always gives me ideas!

I’m pretty sure navy beans are the same as Northern beans. If not, I’m DEFINITELY sure Northern beans are canellini beans.
