The Twenty-Fifth Year

Twenties

On this day, a quarter of a century ago, I entered the world as the [strange-looking] daughter of Barbara and Cliff.

Don’t worry, I grew out of those cheeks (well, kind of).

Check out our dresses and the autumn leaves in the background…no wonder we are so fond of fall.  And maybe this explains my love of classic plaids?

I pretty much look the same today as I did back then, no?

Now that I’m working, having a Monday birthday is somewhat un-eventful but I fully intend to make up for that this weekend.

I feel very strongly that no celebration of a birth is complete without cake — lots and lots of dense, moist yellow cake and piles of pure buttercream. I want to start off the new year on the right foot, which not only means eating cake, but also means appreciating the 25 incredible years of life I’ve been fortunate enough to experience thus far. I’m hoping that the next year will be just as fabulous.

So here’s hoping that the twenty-sixth year of life filled with nutty beers, fun with friends and family, delicious desserts, fantastic fashions finds, interesting travels, good health, lots and lots of laughter; and most importantly, here’s hoping that it doesn’t pass too quickly.

Not only the most beautiful baby in the nursery but the smartest and the cutest.

But I might add, I think you cried more than any other baby in the nursery, too.

    Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday. Love you the cute pictures you’ve shared. me and my 3 younger sisters all have the same haircut growing up. For the love of bangs right?

    • Mom
      October 18, 2010 at 2:42 pm

Yep, and boy were those bangs hard to cut. Laura wasn’t so bad but Kath was the pits. I had to bribe her with M and M’s. (I know, not the most nutritious approach, but it worked.)

        Hi Mom,

I’m not sure if my Mom used a bowl to help shape our haircuts but we did all have bowl cuts. I think half of our hair were bangs 🙂

It’s funny looking back now on all our pictures. Ahhh, it’s fun having all girls in the household (my poor dad).

I used to live in Boston…the BEST PLACE for birthday cakes is Party Favors in Brookline. A.mazing buttercream frosting. J Pace downtown is also great if you are a chocoholic.
