Out of Season

Cooking

Well it was bound to happen – I left my computer cord at work, so I now have a dead computer with no way to revive it until Monday:(  I’m still able to blog  Matt’s computer, but I don’t have the pictures from this week and thus the lack of a Fashion Friday post…

Other than that, Friday was good and very low-key.  My meeting went surprisingly well (we found the child ineligible for special ed) and I got quite a bit accomplished during the rest of the day.  I also gymed-it and then finally spent a DSW giftcard I’ve had since October on a pair of desert boots on clearance and some cheapy fur-lined flats.  Matt has a bad cold, so we stayed in last night and assembled a pizza.  I was too hungry by 8pm to make my own dough, so we picked some up from Whole Foods and threw together a buffalo cheese number topped with shrimp, green peppers, and my favorite bbq sauce.

The combo was awesome, but I should have gone with a cheese blend.  The buffalo was really hot and would have been nice if paired with a more mild mozzarella.

I also wasn’t used to working with this dough, so I formed it too thin on the middle and too thick on the outskirts.  It made for delicious dough-pillows on the edges though, so I’m not complaining.

The highlight of the evening though, was this mean pumpking  that came out as a special treat.  We bought him when he was the last one on the shelf back in November and I’ve been telling Matt for weeks that we have to save him for a cold January night.  One sip and fall came rushing back to me – back to school, birthday, leaves, Halloween.  It’s funny how a smell or a taste can do that.

During dinner we watched Valentine’s day and I actually really enjoyed it.  I’m a fan of those movies where multiple plots come together at the end.  Like many people these days, I’m not crazy about what Valentine’s day has become, but this movie made me appreciate and like the holiday again.

After 11 hours of sleep, I’m ready to work on my to-do list.  Too bad most of the things I need to tackle are on my computer.  We’ve got a steady snow outside, so I’ll try to make the best of it.

Get yourself another PC cord for home. That pizza looks great — especially when on a diet 😉

HA we’re saving our last Pumking too. We got two when we were back in Michigan for Christmas because they’re SO hard to find here in St. Louis. It’s soooo good! I blogged about it recently too. We’ll need a special occasion to break out our last bottle!

As someone originally from Western NY, I just wanted to say hooray for picking two products from Western NY — Yancey’s Fancy is from just east of Buffalo; Southerntier is from the Southwest corner of NYS 🙂 That stinks that you left your computer cord at work. And yay for a successful eligibility meeting! Those can be tough when it’s not what the parent wants to hear.
