For our weekly date night, Matt and I headed to Harvard square to have a beer at an old favorite and eat dinner at a new gem.

Grafton Street Pub has been one of our favorite restaurants since we first ventured to Cambridge during my graduate school interviews – the atmosphere is urban but cozy and the beer selection is great. I ordered the Berkshire Brewing Co. Cabin Fever, which was perfectly balanced and very drinkable.

We warmed up at Grafton Street and then headed to its new sister restaurant: Russell House Tavern. You can definitely tell these restaurants are sisters because they have a similar vibe. I got Harpoon’s new Belgian Pale Ale – LOVED this because it had the spice of a Belgian, but a teeny tiny taste of bitterness on the finish.

Airy bread with pesto dipping oil was enjoyed while Matt went back and forth over which entrée he wanted. Ever since I was jealous of Matt’s burger in Portland, I’ve been craving one hard core, so when I saw a grass fed burger on the menu, I didn’t need to read any further.

The waitress asked if I wanted fries or a salad, and right when I was about to say salad, she said why don’t I just bring you half and half? Done and done.

Thick and rare, flavorful and juicy and all for $11…need I say more?

After downing this guy, I practically levitated to my bed with a smile.

    that looks awesome! just wanted to say hi from the triangle area since i’ve heard (from your sister) that you’re moving here in the fall! i know you’re a native to the area, but if you have any questions just let me know! oh, and i think you will LOVE the restaurant scene . . . excited to see some local places featured!

    I know exactly how you feel with the graduation thing looming over your head. I graduated with my masters in counseling in 2009 and I remember not knowing what direction I wanted to take it and what I wanted to do…It was a nerve racking time. Some of the best advice that anyone gave me was to just apply for any and everything that sounded the least bit interesting and see what doors opened. I applied for a job, and the agency called and then asked if I would interview for a different job with in the agency. I’m sure you will be able to find a job right away!

      Thanks for the advice…I think you’re right about applying for every job that comes up because I got a phone interview today!

    I also read Angela’s post and could definitely relate. I’m not 100% happy about my undergraduate program and it’s hard to stay the course when I feel like the goals of the program don’t align with my own career goals.
