Winter Break Part IV

Uncategorized

Another snow day tomorrow = wine and Thai food. I could really get used to these four-day weeks. Makes for a nice little break in the deep, dark winter.

The snow fell fast and steady all day long as I worked inside the warm psychology office. I made it home around 4 and knocked out 3 quick slow miles before retiring to my couch. Matt and I dreamed about all the things we could do on the eve before a snow day: $2 taco Tuesdays at a local bar, drinks out with friends, a movie…but in the end, we really didn’t want to have to walk anywhere. We decided opening a bottle of wine from our collection and ordering in was the best solution.

I’m not a huge fan of pino’s, but we received this bottle as a gift in the NY Times best wine selection from Matt’s parents. One sip & smell and I was sold. This wine smells so much like perfume + flowers that I was almost afraid to drink it. But, now I’m totally in love. It’s aromatic and earthy and very well-rounded.

Enter Thai curry noodles with shrimp. We just split one entrée because we’re on a budget over here.

Served atop a bed of spinach for extra bulk. Usually when we order ethnic food, it tastes fabulous but kinda gross after a while. Not this – it tasted fresh and authentic through and through. I even loved the vegetables, which doesn’t happen often.

I’m planning to stay up late in my PJ’s because I’m sleepin in tomorrow! Woo hooo. Remind me of how nice this snow day felt when I’m at work during the third week of June:(

Does your district have snow days built in? Here in Central California, we have “foggy day schedules”.

Foggy days – lol! Sadly, the days we miss for snow are just added to the end of the school year:(
