Fashion Friday: Is it spring yet?

Clothing Shopping

Since I had extra free time this week, I finally got the opportunity to peak into a few stores for a spring preview. I’m not quite ready to buy yet, and yall know I like to pre-shop so I make good choices. Though I saw lots of cute stuff, I actually wasn’t blown away by any of the spring collections. It’s probably because I didn’t go into Anthropologie or French Connection because I’ve learned that those two stores only leave me lusting for things I cannot afford.

My favorite thing about spring clothing is color! I spend all winter in black, and ever year I welcome the pinks and reds.

This top is the epitome of spring this year – sheer, bright, ruffles (seen @ Express).

I think I buy a black silky top every year, but I loved how this one has some color to it. Plus, the cut and buttons are too cute. (seen @ Gap)

I really wanted a pair of wooden heels last year, but never found the right pair before fall arrived. I liked these because of the contrast between the red and the wood and because of the manageable heel (seen @ American Eagle).

DRESSES! If you know me, you know I live in dresses in the spring and summer. They’re just soo much more comfortable than real clothes. Gotta have a work dress, a day dress, and a party dress:) (seen @ J crew, Gap, Express).

Even though I’d prefer to live in dresses, pants are better for cold offices and chilly evenings. I’m hoping to find a pair of cropped and/or high-waisted khakis that don’t look frumpy on me…that might be an impossible mission. (seen @ Zara).

How cute are these straw flats? Every year I say I’m going to buy colored flats (I have a couple of black pairs), so this year is the year…hold me to it:) (seen @ Zara)

Stripes are everywhere and I love feeling nautical, especially since I’m living in New England. (seen @ Forever 21).
I usually like to buy one cheapy canvas or cloth tote in a bright, fun print, but I barely saw any in the stores this year. Maybe I’m still a little early?
So, those are my picks. What are you eyeing for spring?

I have found some absolutely terrific clothes (especially cropped knakis pants) at Lands End, Canvas Collection. It is kind of a hidden jewel 🙂

I’ve been wanting some really flowy, “hippie” type shirts for spring and AE has a few that I might try out. I generally stay away from “younger” stores but I think AE has some great essentials and clothes that don’t have their logo that would look fine on any age.

I have been wanting a cute button front dark denim (wish much) jean skirt to wear with my Ariats all summer, along with some crisp white flowy country girl tops. Also, some flattering olive khaki material pants for casual evenings. Who am i kidding though, i usually want at least one (well fitting) of “everything”- because i can never make up my mind and my style changes day to day…. ohh… to have an unlimited shopping budget….

You are so smart and disciplined to look ahead; however, sometimes when you see something you just absolutely love and have been thinking about and unable to previously find, it is better the grab it up before it is sold out. Gone are the days where stores purchase lots of extra inventory for you to wait for mark downs. It still happens, but not always on the best/cutest stuff.
