Night and Day

Cooking

Man, I feel like a whole new human today! Whew! I went into work a bit late and I think the extra sleep must have helped. It also made my day fly by. And, today’s weather felt just like a normal American city’s – I didn’t cringe when I walked outside. It was so pleasant that I took the little one to the park for two hours while babysitting. I read my novel and basked in the sun. Delightful.

I came home to this:

The good news – dinner was all ready for me; the bad news – it was a bit burnt. I’ve left bbq chicken simmering for 10 hours before, but I used a different sauce this time and I guess there just wasn’t enough juice.

Over a huge bowl of rice and a few frozen veggies though, this meal was still pretty good. I don’t mind a smoky flavor in my bbq, so it worked out just fine.

What’s not working out fine is how quickly the crack cookies are disappearing from my freezer. LOVE these.

I feel you on the burnt chicken.
I once cooked some chicken thighs in the slow cooker, with an orangey-Asian sauce that I whipped up – on low all day.
I came to little black disks, stuck to the crock. Seriously, they looked like hockey pucks! I had to *pry* them out.
And yet – my boyfriend STILL talks about that yummy “blackened chicken” that I made that one time. I for one, thought they were pretty inedible. Go figure!
Glad yours wasn’t a total disaster.

I’m always surprised and bummed when I burn something in the crock pot 🙁 But I guess that’s what happens when you work a long day.
