Wining Combinations

Uncategorized

You’re looking at one of the best combination on the face on the earth: sweet potato fries coated in caramel and cinnamon. Heaven.

Matt and I first stumbled upon these fries about a year ago at the Boston Burger Company. We had to venture up to Somerville to pick up our rental car for today’s journey and decided it was the perfect evening to return to this hole in the wall that is known for crazy burger combinations.

I normally would go for the real deal at a place like this, but the last time we dined at the BBC, I had one of the best veggie burger’s of my life. I couldn’t resist getting it again, but this time, I had different toppings. I choose the Green Monstah, which was loaded with guacamole and mango salsa.

It didn’t quite live up to the burger in my memory, but it was pretty dam tasty. The whole thing kind of melted into one big pile of goodness.

Despite feeling completely overwhelmed when all the food arrived, we managed to finish every morsel of food on the table. And it was soooo nice just getting into a car and driving home. Public transportation and a full stomach do not mix.

When we got home, Matt and I popped open a beer we’ve been saving for a few weeks: the Stone Vertical Epic. This a very unique ale that was brewed on 10.10.10. I thought six months would be enough time for aging, but after opening the bottle, we read that it was supposed to age until December 2012. Whoops. Anyway, the beer is technically a triple, but its brewed with Muscat, Gewurztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc grapes and chamomile. The flavors are very distinct – you get the crisp wine up front and beer on the finish. It wasn’t my favorite, but definitely something to appreciate.
Annnddd then we headed to bed early in preparation for a 7am wakeup. New Jersey, here we come.

You don’t have to age the Stone Vertical Epic series until 2012 necessarily… They just have plans to do a vertical tasting then. I haven’t had too many of them, but people liked the 08 so much that they now make it regularly – it’s the Sublimely Self-Righteous Belgian Black IPA. Killer stuff.
