Preparing to Gather

Uncategorized

This evening the weekend festivities begin! My parents are arriving and we’re going to get amazing Ethiopian food at Addis Red Sea tonight. Matt’s parents and sister are arriving on Friday and all of us will be hanging out and enjoying Boston for the weekend.

Until then, I’m going to spend the afternoon preparing for a graduation gathering we are hosting tomorrow. I’ve always loved entertaining and I hope to do it a lot more of it next year when I have more space.

My favorite part of entertaining is definitely planning the menu. I wanted to keep the menu for this gathering on the lighter side because most of the people who will be attending are going out to dinner with their families afterwards. Normally, I like to make everything by hand, but since there won’t be any time between the graduation ceremony and the party, I’m planning to make two of the appetizers ahead of time and supplement with hummus and brie.

So, the menu will include:

– Baked brie

-Mediterranean hummus with terra chips

-Date, pesto, and blue cheese flatbread (from Pizzapalooza)

-White bean bruschetta on crostini (Rhodey Girl’s Recipe)

-Fresh fruit

-Candies and dried fruit from TJ’s

-Cake from Mike’s Pastry in the North End

-Wine and beer

Sweet and Simple.

Now I just have to figure out how to fit 30 people in 450 square feet….
