Latin Kitchen Love

Uncategorized

Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you The Most Amazing Cocktail. This was avocado pureed with lime, pineapple, coconut, and rum. Simple is beautiful.

So, last night, we joined friends for dinner at Orinoco, a latin kitchen in Brookline (and in the South End). Everything about the evening, from the food to the friends was perfect. I started with the avocado heaven and Matt and I shared fried plantains with sun-dried tomato vinaigrette. They were awesome, but I think the regular old sweet plantains are still my favorite (we ended up ordering them too).

My entree was a very difficult decision because the menu was simply fantastic.

Per the waiter’s recommendation, I ended up going with the plantain-crusted mahi-mahi over slow-roasted beef (or ox-tail? I’m still not clear on this). Fish and shredded meat in the same dish? Yes please. Needless to say, the combination was amazing (and spicy!). Everyone at the table was ooing and ahhing over their meals as well.

And because we didn’t want the night to end (what’s new?), we headed to Sel de la Terre for a nightcap. Is anyone else concerned that these might fall?

It seems I’ve been drinking a lot of mixed drinks and wine lately, so this brew was music to my ears lips.

Did I say it was a lovely evening already?

Today was a lazy couch day. And there might not be any more of those because I think we sold our couches on craigslist (finger’s crossed)! Other than spinning, the grocery store, and spaghetti with lentil sauce, today was pretty uneventful, which is a good thing:)

Hope you guys had a great weekend! Sleep tight.

I’m fascinated by the avocado puree. I’m sure it was creamy and lovely and absolutely delicious but still…I had never given it any thought before seeing your snap right there!

I was weird-ed out at first, but it was quite sweet and would make you smile.
