One Last North End

Uncategorized

Ciao.

For once, I’m not sad the weekend is over. This week is my LAST week of internship and I’m so excited for the journey to begin. This weekend was supposed to be low key, but it became more extravagant because Matt and I kept saying we only have two weeks left in Boston….

Saturday, we headed to the North End for one last dinner in little Italy. We choose Davide simply because we had a restaurant.com gift certificate. I ordered a light but flavorful pino to start.

I was tempted by some of the fish entrees, but all of the pasta is made in house and I knew I wanted to get a big pasta dish for my last dinner in the North End. It was a hard decision, but I went with the Fusilli with pistachio pesto, ricotta, and sausage.

It.was.fantastic.

My eyes were bigger than my stomach and I finished off about 90% before realizing that I was stuffed.

But I can always make room for a cookie. Matt and I had planned on getting our favorite heath crunch peanut butter cookie, but they didn’t have it! Luckily, they had one more of our second favorite cookies…

And we realized they had peanut butter cannoli’s and we had to try one.

I’ve never been a cannoli fan because the cream is not sweet or thick enough for my taste buds, but the addition of pb to this cream made it rich enough for me:)

Man, it feels good to splurge sometimes.

But it doesn’t feel so good to be so full that you’re dying of thirst. I was sooo thirsty last night that I tossed and turned! I only had one glass of wine, so I’m guessing just the pure volume of food required tons of extra water for digestion? Even today, I feel like I can’t drink enough water! I must have recovered though because I found myself drinking incredible beer this afternoon after a spontaneous visit to the museum of fine arts. More on that tomorrow – I’ve got to go finish The Hunger Games for book club. Night,

Sometimes when I eat a ton of carbs I get insanely thirsty afterwards. I think it lowers my blood sugar (plus alcohol, which always does that), and lower blood sugar ups dehydration. I hate that feeling! That’s what I call the food or carb coma. The food is sometimes worth it, though 😉
