Cooking Life

It was a girls night in this evening.

Me and all the VS girls that is. They watched me eat dinner and salivated over my pasta:)

I’ve been having trouble sleeping since the break (probably because I stayed up late and slept in for ten days), so I was more than happy to take it easy and relax tonight. I’ve said it a million times, but I need to work on winding down before bed. I LOVE the internet so much that I spend my last seconds before getting in bed online and it leaves me feeling wired. Ya know, that tired feeling you get behind the eyes when you’ve been looking at a computer screen?

Jarred red sauce can be so hit or miss. I bought the cheapest kind at Whole Foods last week and it’s absolutely flavorless. Last time I made pasta I added tons of salt and oregano and it was still bland. Tonight, I fixed that with lentils. And the sauce was great!! I was never into meat sauce growing up (note, I hated ALL red sauce, including on pizzas), but this sure made me want some of that meat sauce that was always around at potluck suppers.
It’s been quiet out there lately. I guess everyone is in the January doldrums? I have to admit that it’s my least favorite month, but it does feel refreshing to have a whole year ahead. I keep wanting to clean out my closets and make purchases for the apt. January also makes me want to hibernate. Good night.

I remember you always wanted “white pizza”. Glad you overcame your aversion to “red sauce”. I love Prego; it’s really flavorful. Glad you had a good vacation. We, too, are struggling with readjusting to time differences. Surprising how the body resists changes sometimes!

Try adding a splash of red wine to jarred red sauce while it’s simmering. Splashing in a quarter cup or so (or more…) makes SUCH an amazing and delightful difference. Seriously!
