Bald Head to Brooklyn

Life

Hey y’all, So sorry for the lack of posts. Thanks for your patience as I get my life together.

We spent 10 days at my parents house on Bald Head before we arrived in Brooklyn. It was a much-needed rest after the craziness of the fall and moving out of our house.

I absolutely loved being away from cars and having nothing but a grocery trip on the agenda each day. I fall more in love with the island each time we visit.

Emerson especially loved the time with Matt!

We had some cold days where we did absolutely nothing and some warm days where we took walks and played on the beach.

Towards the end of our trip, Matt’s parents and sister came down and joined us for Thanksgiving. I didn’t snap a single picture of our meal, but I bet you can imagine what it looked like:)

And then we started the journey to our new home. I don’t think I was prepared for how much more difficult it is to move with a little walker! Matt only had one day to help me unpack before he started his new job…I’m making slow and steady progress, but I’m just so ready to feel settled! Emerson can sense the change (and I’m weaning her because I couldn’t take the biting), so she has been needing extra attention. Feeling overwhelmed + weaning hormones + cold, dreary weather definitely had me feeling grumpy last week.

We had a nice weekend, though, and we were able to do some exploring in-between the to-do list – I met some new friends for wine, we ventured to the Fort Green farmer’s market for gf goodies, and Emerson had her first donut. We also had a great dinner at Bar Bruno. Plus, we got acquainted with our kitchen with our weekly pizza and wine night.

And today felt much better than last week – I was super productive during nap time, I did a great class at the Y, and I took Emerson to a fabulous playground. I want to pinch myself every time I see the Manhattan view.

The biting ended it for us too. You did a good job, mama! Be patient with yourself and the settling in process. It is always more work than it seems!

The biting is the pits but exciting to hear that Lady Emerson got to bite into her first doughnut!
