Durham Life Travel Weekends

Heeyyy,

I spent the week down in North Carolina, and I just couldn’t get over how green it is. And we had bright blue skies Monday-Saturday.

Aside from two flight cancellations, a crying baby who didn’t want me on the phone and computer, and waiting all day to figure out my plans, the actual solo plane ride went well. We got on an 8:30pm flight, and Emerson stayed up until we landed at 10pm, and then finally feel asleep.

Tuesday, my mom treated me to a massage with her local lady, and provided babysitting. What more can you ask for? Throughout the week, I also had lunch with a friend, did some shopping, took a few long walks and one run, and spent a lot of time outside.

Emerson spent most of the week putting beanie babies in this shopping cart and then hauling them out to the porch.  She was busy with something every minute that we were at my parents’ house.  I took her out in the yard, and she cried when she fell into a tall patch of weeds and clovers:) She’s such a city girl now!

Matt arrived for reunion weekend late on Thursday night, and we were able to enjoy a date night at one of our old favorite restaurants in Durham, Mateo.

We started Saturday bright and early at the family fun day hosted by the business school. So many of our friends have had kids in the past five years, and it was fun to meet the new additions. We had a bbq lunch and took a long walk through campus during Emerson’s nap. Post nap, we checked out Bull City Cider Works, which was pretty awesome and some of the best ciders I’ve tried.

My parents were kind enough to babysit again on Saturday, so that we could attend the reunion dinner.

We enjoyed drinks and mingling, and then dinner and a Fuqua Vision comedy show before calling it a night.  T’was a nice trip down memory lane and a great week with the fam (speaking of fam, congrats to my sister & Thomas on their big news)!

I’m always happy to be home though, and I think Emerson loves sleeping in her own crib even more than I like sleeping my own bed.

Emerson looks adorable in the backyard, but do your parents need to mow? Lol. I would just be worried about snakes! Sounds like you enjoyed your week back in NC.

We did mow. The next day. It’s a new yard and we’re not quite on top of it yet.

Where are you in that picture? I think I found Matt near the balloons, but where are you hiding?

It was a students only picture, so I’m not in it 🙂
