Thoughts From a Tuesday
An apple crisp just came out of the oven!!!

I’m thinking about skipping the Christmas tree this year:( Matt’s always at school and I just don’t feel the need to put one up for myself when we are spending Christmas at my parents house. Is that Grinch-like and too un-festive? What about you?
The senior [business school] prom is this weekend! We’re hosting a pre-party and I couldn’t resist buying this giant bottle of wine from TJ’s.
I’m obsessed with dill harvarti, horseradish hummus, and pickle sandwiches right now
I’m going to my very first clothing swap tonight and I’m excited! Too bad I got rid of a ton of items at the start of fall.
Happy happy Tuesday!

After sittin around in Atlanta and not being able to get anything done around the house, I’ve been a machine this week. I completely reorganized my kitchen cabinets, scrubbed the bathtub on my hands and knees, and got rid of some old clothes while improving some of the cheap hangers in my closet.

And I put every CD I’ve ever owned into iTunes. This.took.forever. But it was a fun project because I got to listen to some classics.

I’ve also been shopping! For secret wedding things…

And plants!

I had an empty pot from my grandmother, so I filled it with this guy!
Oh, and I’ve also been enjoying having TV again. House Hunters has been on continuously:)
What have you guys been up to?

Another long day of babysitting, though this time I’m not pooped. The little guy def. pooped though – a ton and then bounced around in the exer-saucer. TMI? Not pretty.
I’m headed back to the airport tomorrow. Living in Atlanta is starting to get pretty weird because I never see Matt and then I travel on the weekends. I’m so confused about where home is. I’ve also had some issues with a large spider in the shower (three encounters – he essentially rose from the dead, which was a traumatizing experience). I’ve tried to use the cognitive-behavioral techniques I learned in grad school on myself, but when I see him, my body just takes over and starts trembling. So, I’m pretty much ready to pack up and head back to Durham ASAP. Speaking of home though, tomorrow I’m going to my childhood home (as in Hillsborough, NC) for my sister’s baby shower. Should be a good time and my fingers are crossed that there’s cake:)
We all know I’m in a cooking slump because I’m not in my own kitchen and because Matt’s never home for dinner. I’ve been making really quick meals for myself. This one was a major winner. I picked up a jalapeno cheddar salmon burger from whole foods, browned it in a pan, and put it over a salad of black beans, corn relish, avocado, and salsa verde. The burger was soooo good!!! It didn’t even taste like salmon (sometimes a good thing), and I actually had to go check the package to see if I’d bought a chicken burger.

Sorry I forgot to hit publish on this last night. My brain has been a bit foggy and I fell asleep with my computer open and Expedia honeymoons on the screen:)

Hi from Baltimore! I’ve been having lots of fun hanging out with my grandma and doing some relaxing with my mom and sister!

Obviously, good food has been involved. Some highlights have been the authentic Maryland crab cakes, whiskey sours at the retirement center’s bar, and an enormous bread pudding that I shared with Kath.

And the Loehmann’s shopping was fabulous! Though I didn’t find a striped clutch, I found another cute handbag and four dresses!

I also found my nude heels when my mom and I peeked in Nordstrom rack today!! SOOOOO excited to wear warm-weather clothes, and the forecast looks awesome for the coming week.

I’m here for one more night and then I’m heading home tomorrow. It’s been great to get outta town and spend time with family.
Enjoy what’s left of the weekend. Ciao.

No trip to Baltimore is complete without stopping into the Towson Loehmann’s. My grandmother has been shopping there for like 50 years! Spring is here, so I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for the following:
- A white blazer. I just gave away my old one away because it was too small and had stains on it. I’d love to find a longish one that’s also soft!
- Colored flats to add a pop to jeans days.
- A striped clutch for a nautical touch.
- A pure white shirt to make me feel clean and fresh.
- A silky blouse in a bright color or unique print.
- Nude pumps – they were on the list last year and didn’t happen.
- And a classic summer sundress. Because I live in them once we hit 80*
And, the inevitable question – what’s on your spring list?

Another year, another Labor day; it’s time for that post again. We all love fall clothes, and every year, I take peak at the new arrivals online, and I fall in love. This year? Not so much. I had to actually do some digging and searching to find pieces that felt new and different, and even the picks below don’t feel particularly fall-ish. Perhaps I’m getting too picky or perhaps I need to physically see and touch the items? I don’t mean to give this post a negative vibe though! I’m sure I’ll be lusting for a million things once I visit the mall. For now, these are pieces I’d like for my autumn wardrobe!
I have been enjoying wearing dresses to work. This year, I’m definitely transitioning from back-to-school to working woman. I’d love some work appropriate dresses with sleeves for chilly October days.

J-crew and Forever 21
My Mad Men watching habits have got me really into the bow tie shirt and pencil skirt combo. And I love that I work in an office now where this outfit would not be too dressy.

I've created this blog because I'm in a bit of a quarter life crisis. Since graduating from college in 2008 and earning an advanced degree in school psychology in May, I still don't know what career path to follow. All I know is that time is moving way too fast and I find myself living only for the weekends. Bear with me as I attempt to reclaim my twenties by finding pleasure and balance in the work week and incorporating my passions of food, fashion, fitness, and fun into everyday life.
