Funtastic

Durham Restaurants

This weekend was so.much,fun. I know I say that every weekend, but really, this one was just one of those go-with-the-flow, eat, see friends, and relax in between kind of weekends. Not many people showed up to Fuqua Friday, so we ended up going out to dinner. Sometimes Fuqua Friday can be overwhelming because there’s soo many people to talk to, so it was nice to just eat dinner while chatting with two of our good friends. We tried the…

Hey, hey. Hows it goin? The weekend is over, but for once I’m a bit relieved. The event I’ve been putting together took place over the weekend and I’m happy to say that everything went pretty smoothly! The other co-chairs and I have been working for a few months to plan the programming for the partners of students who have been admitted to Fuqua. I really believe in the support that the partners organization provides and was excited to be…

On a Stick

Durham Restaurants

That was the theme of tonight’s beer and food pairing! Fuqua has both a beer and a culinary club and the two joined forces tonight for a fun event. I wasn’t sure what to expect, since Matt mentioned this at the last minute, but it was tons of fun!    Five beers were paired with five foods…on a stick! A Mediterranean “salad” with Mother Earth Pale Ale. I’m not a huge fan of olives or onions, but I loooved the…

Dinner Date

Durham Restaurants

A rainy weekend made for extra relaxation and lots of couch time. Especially after I had an incredibly productive day on Friday, cleaning like crazy. Due to two weeks of spring break, I hadn’t seen Fuqua friends in quite some time, so we had a fun evening on Friday watching basketball, drinking beer, and eating pizza. Saturday, Matt and I celebrated new friends with a fantastic dinner! I met Anne when Kath was in town for a frosting feast and…

Bread N Kabob

Another day of babysitting, another Disney movie! I really love kids movies, and love it even more when parents don’t mind if we put them on! I’ve been feeling kind of blah/foggy the past two days (I think it’s hormone related), so it was nice to get at least a little break from entertaining the kids. Also, it was freeeezing today and I just couldn’t warm up. Big houses are nice (the family has an enormous, open great room), but…

Amazing Restaurants Durham Restaurants

Can you tell these guys are pumped to be on spring break? I went to Target today and the store was full of cute beach bags and bathing suits. I want to go to the beach! Good thing we’re on the verge of spring down here – lots of flowers are popping up! So this picture is from Friday’s happy hour with some of Matt’s classmates. We went to beer heaven Tyler’s Tap, and I had a refreshing Bell’s Sparkling…

Study Break

Durham Restaurants

Matt’s stuck in the library, studying for his final tomorrow, so I met him for a study break at the Mad Hatter bakery and cafe. We had yet another Living Social coupon, so my dinner was free! I ordered the grilled salmon over roasted vegetables. And for $9.95 at a bakery, this meal was awesome. The salmon was perfectly cooked and I even ate all my veggies (I’m a very picky veggie eater). Matt had fish tacos and was impressed.…

What A Weekend

Durham Restaurants

My weekend was….eventful! I kicked Friday off with the Vegas-style auction and poker night at Fuqua. The event seemed to be a big success, which means lots of $$ raised for the NC Special Olympics. And the weekend concluded with an Oscar event. Jill and Brendan hosted a fabulous viewing party this evening and costumes were required. Can you guess who we are? Every time the Oscars come around, I always regret not seeing more movies – they really are…

Vin Rouge

Durham Restaurants

Oh hey Friday, Sorry for being MIA yesterday. Matt’s company-to-be (assuming he accepts the offer for summer employment) treated us to dinner at Durham’s Vin Rouge. I was pumped that I was invited to join, because Vin Rouge has been on my list since we moved! I’m not always crazy about French food, but have heard fabulous things about this spot and the restaurant itself is adorable. I had a glass of pinot noir and a glass of cabernet franc…
