I love this whole having time on the weekends thing. I think I’m still recovering from being booked during the month of May. Despite the chilly weather, Friday even was nice and relaxed. I met Matt downtown afterwork and we grabbed a drink at the Intercontinental Hotel. We had planned on sitting outside on the water at one of the new Seaport restaurants, but decided it was too cold and windy. I still enjoyed a nautical drink – a pineapple…

Spontaneous

Durham

Hello. How’s life? I finished babysitting around 5:45 today, and just when I was about to call Matt and tell him I was really craving a beer on a patio, he called me to say he was in the neighborhood after his doctor’s appointment (he has a strained meniscus:(). Before I knew it, I was not only sipping a Pretty Things Jack D’or on the patio of Beacon Street Tavern, I was eating one of the most amazing pizzas I’ve…

Out on a School Night

Uncategorized

Work, spinning…you know the drill. But rather than cook dinner this evening, I got to eat out! One of Matt’s good friends and his wife were in town for the evening, so we caught up with them at Dillon’s for a quick drink n dinner. I had a Sam Brick Red…probably my favorite Boston beer other than the Sam Cherry Wheat and the Harpoon Belgian Pale Ale. I’m going to miss these local guys, but I’m excited to try some…

Latin Kitchen Love

Uncategorized

Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you The Most Amazing Cocktail. This was avocado pureed with lime, pineapple, coconut, and rum. Simple is beautiful. So, last night, we joined friends for dinner at Orinoco, a latin kitchen in Brookline (and in the South End). Everything about the evening, from the food to the friends was perfect. I started with the avocado heaven and Matt and I shared fried plantains with sun-dried tomato vinaigrette. They were awesome, but I think the regular…

Mothers and Other Lovely Things

Uncategorized

It was so sad seeing everyone go this afternoon, but this weekend couldn’t have been more perfect. And, thank you guys for your sweet comments and congratulations:) Yesterday, we strolled around the city and ducked into the Otherside cafe for lunch to seek shelter from the thunderstorms. Though we spent the afternoon eating cake, we somehow made room for a fabulous dinner in Boston’s North End. But first, I took the gang to the Liberty Hotel because I love the…

Preparing to Gather

Uncategorized

This evening the weekend festivities begin! My parents are arriving and we’re going to get amazing Ethiopian food at Addis Red Sea tonight. Matt’s parents and sister are arriving on Friday and all of us will be hanging out and enjoying Boston for the weekend. Until then, I’m going to spend the afternoon preparing for a graduation gathering we are hosting tomorrow. I’ve always loved entertaining and I hope to do it a lot more of it next year when…

Heavenly Cheese Weekend Recap

Uncategorized

So, back to the weekend? Yes please!      Friday started with dinner and beer at Parish Cafe in Boston. Matt and I looove this place and Friday’s dinner was an example of why. I had an awesome Hazed and Infused and a special Berkshire Brewing Co. Pale ale that didn’t taste a bit like a pale ale. Both were lighter and thus went well with my enormous focaccia sandwich stuffed with portobellos, casa de roma cheese, and walnut-parsley pesto (with…

Play Clothes

Clothing

I’ve really enjoyed the break from work clothes this week. It’s not that I mind them that much, but sometimes it’s just nice to get out of the shower and put on a pair on jeans. It’s still not warm enough to even put away my down coat (ok, I like to be really warm). But, Matt took me to my absolute favorite southwestern restaurant for $5 tapas last night, so I took the opportunity to sneak a summery top…

Wining Combinations

Uncategorized

You’re looking at one of the best combination on the face on the earth: sweet potato fries coated in caramel and cinnamon. Heaven. Matt and I first stumbled upon these fries about a year ago at the Boston Burger Company. We had to venture up to Somerville to pick up our rental car for today’s journey and decided it was the perfect evening to return to this hole in the wall that is known for crazy burger combinations. I normally…
