Life Twenties

I had a fabulous birthday weekend, and now it’s back to normal life as a thirty-year-old! I didn’t take too many pictures, but snagged a few from friends’ phones. Matt and I picked up these fun number balloons and the cake (!) on Saturday morning, and then I met my friend Liz for a mimosa and a blow-out. We started with some day-drinking at the patio of Henry’s Majestic and then had an intimate dinner of about 20 at Origin…

Easter in the East

Travel

Oh hey, and happy belated Easter. Due to the holiday, I had Friday and Monday off from school, so I traveled east to Virginia to see my sister! Of course, my parents drove up from NC, and Matt’s family from MD, so we had a big gathering! Friday night, my parents offered to babysit, so we headed out on the town. We started at a cute bar called Alley Light, where we all ordered Bourbon! We moved on to Maya…

Birthday Weekend

Life Twenties

I had a fabulous birthday weekend – feels like each year gets better! Since the real day fell on a Saturday, Matt planned the day. I told him I wanted to relax and eat cake! First, I took Matt to my favorite gym class at Equinox, and then we showered and headed out on foot for cupcakes. We stopped at two different bakeries and acquired 5 cupcakes for the evening. We also ducked into a fun salad place for lunch…

Thoughts from a Thursday

Ramblings

How’s it going out there? Matt and I had a wonderful anniversary celebration – we had dinner at the famous Fearings (out of this world) and the enjoyed the top layer of our wedding cake afterwards. It was a little beat up from riding to Texas in a cooler for 3 days, but it somehow survived. I think we were too full to appreciate it right after dinner, but boy did in taste good the next day! This week has…

-Saturday is my one year anniversary! It’s been a wonderful year of marriage:) I just keep thinking about all the things that were happening at this time last year and I wish I could relive it all. At least some of this is still in the freezer!!!!! : -To celebrate, we’re combining our wedding anniversary with Matt’s 30th and taking a big trip! -I have enough yoga classes under my belt now that I’m starting to relax and really enjoy…

East Coast Easter

Travel

I got to spend Easter with the family! I headed to my sister’s house in Charlottesville, VA, and both my parents and Matt’s parents came from their states to join us! No visit with my brother-in-law is complete without a beer tasting! Kanz brews his own beer and is always interested in feedback/discussion. We kicked off the weekend by comparing two different years of barleywine with the Goose Island Bourbon County Barleywine. All were delicious! My mom and dad are…

I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Millennial Central for Marriott Rewards. I will receive Marriott Points to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation. It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with travel. And not just the actual vacation – I adore travel planning and picking the hotel.  So when I was approached about the opportunity to be a Marriott Rewards® Ambassador, I was pumped and applied right away! I’ll…

One Last Night in NC

Uncategorized

We’re officially en route to Knoxville, Tennessee! On my last night in NC, I got to attend the lovely wedding of my good friend Brooke at the Carolina Inn in Chapel HIll. It was a nice evening for an outdoor ceremony because the sun had retreated behind the clouds. I loved that champagne was served right before the ceremony because we all mingled and got the party started before the ceremony:)    Brooke looked gorgeous and you could tell that…

More April Showers

Durham Restaurants

I had the pleasure of attending two baby showers this weekend! Don’t ya just love shower food?! This was like a nutty pineapple carrot cake combo involving cream cheese and buttercream!!!! Cheers to [one of the] lovely moms-to-be:) The second shower on Sunday had fabulous food too! Both showers were gender-neutral, which meant lots of yellows and greens. I had never had mint m & m’s before – soo addicting! After Saturday’s shower, Matt and I grabbed pizza with friends…
