Piedmont, Take II

Durham Restaurants

Friday came quickly this week, thanks to my professional development days on Monday and Tuesday. I’m so excited for a fall weekend at home – no real plans on the agenda! I didn’t get around to posting last night, because I was out to dinner until 11! I’m extra sleepy today, but it was worth it. The company Matt worked for over the summer was on campus and the recruiting team organized a dinner. It’s so nice that they include…

Denver: The Food

Travel

EVERYTHING in Denver was delicious, thanks to recommendations from readers and friends. To those of you who recommended Snooze and Tag: I love you. So, here’s a quick recap – Matt and I shared almost everything. Sugared hush puppies, crawfish, shrimp, & andouille etouffee, and a vegetarian chili relleno – all from Steubens. Blackened fish & celery root remoulade sandwich and root beer braised beef short rib – from Lou’s Food Bar. Taco sushi (ahi tuna, sushi rice, guac, and…

Rockpile Syrah & Southern Specialties

The summer is sizzlin’ down, so Matt’s company had an end-of-year celebration for the interns. Only most people were out of town, so a few of us had to eat all the food!! The dinner was hosted by the Horseradish Grill in Buckhead, where every single thing I tasted was fabulous. Appetizers were fried green tomatoes with pecans, goat cheese, and remoulade as well as NC style pulled pork on a cornmeal pancake with slaw and bbq sauce. Knowing that…

Monday + Meetup

Uncategorized

It’s been quite a nice Monday here! I babysat today and went to a spinning class this evening. It seems the weather has cooled off just a bit, so taking the little guy on a walk this morning wasn’t so bad. Matt got home from work very late, so I made one of my quick go-to dinners, which has actually become my favorite packed lunch: TJ’s black bean taquitos toasted in the oven over TJ’s lemongrass rice with avocado and…

Guys, my weekend was absolutely packed!! Matt and I are trying to explore as much as possible, as we only have 3 free weekends left in Atlanta (we’re traveling a lot in July for various events). I’m exhausted, but so so content:) I’m gonna give you the quick version of the weekend recap: Prickly pear margaritas and seafood paella at La Fonda Hiking to the top of Stone Mountain Tastes of beer at the Tap in Midtown Delicious shrimp, fish,…

Dinner for Mother

Cooking

Last night, my dad brought over champagne and we celebrated my mom! I actually haven’t cooked dinner for that many people in my lifetime – it’s hard work! But I chose an easy spread of foods and did most of the prep work in the afternoon. We had salad with strawberries, blue cheese, and walnuts with a simple dressing of olive oil, balsamic, honey, and mustard. Rice made with half basmati and half of Trader Joe’s lemongrass rice (so delish).…

Magnolia

Amazing Restaurants Durham Restaurants

So last Friday, I mentioned that we went to the famous Magnolia Grill. It’s closing at the end of the month, and it’s THE restaurant that put farm-to-fork southern cooking on the map. We had a gift card…I knew we had to go. The restaurant was packed to the brim, but we were seated at a small two-top in the corner of the bar. The waitress rushed over to us several times while we were looking over it to inform…

SB – Take Two

Life

So what I was trying to say last night before Ecto ate my post (I pushed publish and it disappeared) is that I’m enjoying just being at home during spring break. Vacations are fun, but getting things done that have been lurking on my to-do list has also been nice. Sometimes being at home is much more relaxing than traveling to relax. Ya know? Monday, I hung out with my mom and we went to an impromptu dinner at one…

Two Amazing Fishes + One Mysterious Wedge

Amazing Restaurants Travel

I have lots to share from our travels to Charlottesville and VA wine country! Too much for one post and since Ecto would probably have a heart attack with all the pictures, I’ll have to split it up, starting with last night’s dinner – easily the highlight of the trip! Kath & Kanz live in a walkable neighborhood, so we hit the sidewalk to get to our dinner destination: the famous Commonwealth restaurant and it’s rooftop Skybar. Every time Kath…
