This & That Around the ‘Net

Life Ramblings

Have 20 minutes?  Here are ONE TWO THREE 20-minute at-home workouts I’ve enjoyed lately. You can get one done before you even have time to dread it. Although I don’t feel the same way about all of her points, I found this piece about becoming a SAHM so interesting. I’ve been dreaming of new throw pillows and stumbled upon these beautiful patterns on Etsy. I can’t convince Matt to spend that much on a pillow cover right now, but hoping I…

Double Mono

Life

Hi friends, I wanted to have another post ready for today, but I wasn’t able to finish it over the weekend…it was sort of a weird weekend. Remember how I said I was laying around at home a lot and not into exercise?  Well, turns out it’s because I’m recovering from mono. Weird for a monogamous 30-something, right? I had a more intense case when I was 22, and apparently it lives in your body and can recur due to…

Escape to the Keys: Part II

Restaurants Travel

The second half of our vacation was even better than the first because it warmed up into the 70’s. We weren’t sure if it would be hot enough for the beach when we planned the trip, but it was perfectly pleasant for sunning. Our first beach stop was Sunset Key. Guests at the Margaritaville can buy a day pass to visit the beach on the private resort island. After Emerson’s nap, we headed down to the dock in front of our…

Escape to the Keys: Part I

Restaurants Travel

Happy February! As you may have seen on Instagram, we took a trip to Key West and had a fabulous time – perhaps our most relaxing trip with baby yet! We stayed right in town at the Margaritaville Hotel (formerly the Westin). We chose this hotel because of the location, newly renovated rooms, and the one-bedroom suites.  As we learned from last year’s winter escape, laying in a dark hotel bed and quietly eating pizza while baby sleeps is not…

Thoughts from a Thursday

Ramblings

-I’m a real northerner now, as I thought the 40 degree weather we had yesterday was practically beach weather. -Who’s with me that January is the worst month?  I feel like it’s S-L-O-W-L-Y dragging by. -I know there are fabulous restaurants here, but I really miss Dallas restaurants – they are so big and new and everything is indoor-outdoor. Brooklyn is full of adorable hole-in-the-wall places that are not so great for strollers, high chairs, or small beings that make…

Brooklyn Cooking Weekends

It’s funny, thinking back to last year, I remember being a bit disappointed I couldn’t go out to a fancy restaurant and drink lots of cocktails for NYE.  This year?  I was so excited for a night on the couch with Matt. I planned the menu and Matt went and got all the groceries on Saturday, so we could relax and enjoy Sunday a bit more. I joined the Y last week, so I checked out a total body conditioning…

Bald Head to Brooklyn

Life

Hey y’all, So sorry for the lack of posts. Thanks for your patience as I get my life together. We spent 10 days at my parents house on Bald Head before we arrived in Brooklyn. It was a much-needed rest after the craziness of the fall and moving out of our house.    I absolutely loved being away from cars and having nothing but a grocery trip on the agenda each day. I fall more in love with the island…

Happy Birthday Emerson Grace!

Life

I had to work on Thursday, but my mom was able to be at home to meet the carpet cleaners and mosquito guy so that my house was ready for the birthday party (and the market…). Work days always fly by, but I tried to stop and think about my labor and visited Emerson in the nursery IMG_5970.jpg IMG_5971.jpg IMG_5975.jpg IMG_5986.jpg

Labor Day

Life

Wasn’t the long weekend just sooo nice? Although I’m only working part-time now, Matt has been working crazy hours, and it was amazing to have him home for three days of uninterrupted time! Saturday was all about getting our life in order. Gym for me, soccer for Matt! We also went grocery shopping, did all the laundry, and cleaned. Don’t you love knocking out all the chores on the first day? Then the three of us had a date night…
