Sad + Glad

Travel

Well the vacation is officially over:( Although I’m mostly sad, I must say, I’m a little bit glad after twelve days of travel. I missed my apartment! I also haven’t worked out since last Wednesday, so I’m craving a little sweat. The one thing I’m not excited about at all is getting up at 6:40 to go to my internship. This time yesterday, I was just finishing up a lovely dinner, and this time tonight, I’m already late for bed.…

Friday Food & Fun

Uncategorized

Nothing like coming home to cupcakes on a Friday afternoon:) Kath, Kanz, and I split these three items (leaving the fourth part for Matt): red velvet, butterscotch, and a shot of cappacino. Totally awesome, but a bite of each was just not satisfying enough….I need my own piece of cake!!! After our snack, we headed to the Publick House for liquid nourishment. I started with a Victory brown ale spiked with coffee. It was lighter than other coffee beers I’ve…

Anticipation

I can’t wait to… not think about cognitive intelligence or report-writing for five days, be warm and cozy, eat lots of delicious food that only comes once a year, enjoy a seasonal brew or two or ten, laugh with family and friends….   and celebrate all that I’m thankful for:)…

Tired is an Understatement

Uncategorized

I put in a full day at my internship and then babysat for 9 hours after that. I’m looking forward to the days when working as a school psychologist and earning money are one in the same. Despite the long day, I got to eat three glorious pieces of Upper Crust pizza and some awesome pumpkin bread (my first re-introduction of soybean oil, which made my stomach hurt, obv.), as well as watch 2 straight hours of cable TV, during…

Hello and Goodnight

Uncategorized

Back to work I go. This weekend was quite fun and relaxing, but going to work sure feels productive. After all, I am essentially volunteering 1200 hours of my life to helping teenagers, which is a worthwhile use of a year in my twenties, right? Today flew by as we basically sat in meetings absorbing information all day long. Our only break was taken for a quick lunch. I enjoyed leftover carrots over a salad and a ham + laughing…

Good Day, Good Eats

Uncategorized

Hi Yall, The days have been flying by and I haven’t felt too tired from getting up at 6:30 [yet]. I spent more time organizing files today, got an email address (!) and learned about different opportunities within the school. In addition to my regular case load, it looks like I might be coordinating the Student Support Team, which is exciting, but very overwhelming at this point. I really need to get myself organized and mentally prepared for the busy…

My second day at my internship was a little bit boring as we spent the whole day purging old files and rearranging the current ones. I have multiple paper cuts. I also got to clean out a back room and make it into a more usable space, which was a fun project. I love cleansing/rearranging/organization projects, especially the end result of these kinds of projects. All of the interns were working so hard that we had to be reminded to…

Turning Over A New Leaf

Uncategorized

Hello, Hello! Thank you all for your words of wisdom about the working world! I’ll keep them in mind in the coming months. My first day was swell. It began with a celebratory bowl of back to school cinnamon-apple-raisin oatmeal….probably one of the best bowls I’ve had in a while. My commute took a little bit longer than expected, but I still got there on time. I was walking in as all of the high school kids were arriving and…
