Thoughts from a Thursday

Ramblings Thursday Thoughts

-Emerson is getting so into performing and reenacting scenes from movies that I think I need to send her to a school for the performing arts!

-Sleeping on my stomach again is absolutely delightful.

-I am loving having hot yoga back in my life.  It’s such an amazing practice for me right now –  although finding the time to go/getting out the door is hard.

-Avery is growing up so fast! I can’t get over how smiley she is in the mornings.  She is about to outgrow the DockATot and I don’t know what I’ll do because she LOVES it.

-I was able to convince the fam that we NEED one of these cookie cakes at Christmas and I ordered one!!

-Gregg Renfrow, the CEO of Beautycounter, just gave testimony as expert on clean beauty to a Congressional committee working on cosmetic reform legislation. What’s crazy to me is that this is only the second time in the past 40 years that the House has held a hearing on personal-care product safety. Here’s the Good Morning America feature if you’re interested.

-What are y’all looking forward to most during the holidays? I’m excited for rest (fingers crossed) and catching up with the fam!

-As we head towards the end of the year, what post topics or feedback do you have for me for 2020?? (please no mean troll comments:))

Can you tell me more about the Dockatot? I’m due soon with #3 and haven’t had it with the others- do you use it for soothing? Play? Naps? Overnight? All of the above?

We use it for naps during the day and she sleeps really well in it. We also use it anytime we need to set her down, and even change diapers in it (just slide a pad underneath). I keep telling myself I will start some kind of nap routine in her crib, but she’s just happy sleeping down here on the couch and it’s so convenient. Also, very portable!

Also, when she’s in the big open space of her crib or bassinet, she seems to need to be swaddled, and she doesn’t when she’s sleeping in it

Just a quick point that the dock-a-tot doesn’t meet criteria for unsupervised safe sleep, and isn’t a safe overnight sleep surface. This is not mom-shade, Laura – I know you didn’t mention using it as such!

Yes! I know people who are comfortable with it, but it’s clearly label for supervised sleep only, so that’s how we use it.

I love posts like your yard/patio transformation, your kitchen (which I’m using as my model because I never wanted walls of cabinets and when I saw yours I was like “yes! it’s possible!”), any restaurant or Inn reviews or travel stuff, even if I’ll never go to the places.

I’d love to read more about family activities and kid-friendly dining in Charlotte! We are moving there in a few months and it’s so nice to see what other families in the area enjoy doing.

That’s exciting! I’ll think you’ll love it – there are a ton of causal options and a million breweries that are fun with kids (there are some that are more family friendly and some that are more young adults partying…) And lots of family activities between the theater here, the libraries, kids concerts, etc.
