Birthday

$5 Zin

Uncategorized

Friday was fabulous and involved friends, a wine special, and belated birthday celebrations. Matt was out of town, so I enjoyed a much-needed girls night. My friend Emily and I began with a champagne (well, Cava) toast. Everyone kept buying me drinks, which was awesome, but soo not good for consumption. Let’s just say the night ended in me leaving my credit card at the bar and consuming bowls of late-night puffins and emergency coconut water. Thanks to my Fuqua…

Twenty Six

Life Twenties

I hate that the years are flying by so quickly, but I’m always thankful when a new year comes around. I can’t tell you where I’m going to celebrate this evening because I actually don’t know! I have a date with my mom and dad to a mystery location. Here’s hoping the night ends with icing. Although, I’m not sure any cake could top last year’s in terms of the amount of buttercream per square inch. Does anyone have any…

Celebrating Matt

Uncategorized

Yesterday was about celebration and relaxation. We slept in till 9 and then I made the birthday boy pancakes. It’s only been about three weeks since we’ve had pancakes and the first bite made me realize that I’ve missed our Thursday pancake ritual so.much.    We did some more unpacking and furniture assembly and fit in a quick couples workout in my apartment’s gym:) Then we headed to the lake! We’re already obsessed with the sandwiches and salads at The…

City and Sibling Rivalry

Uncategorized

Durham has some great little restaurants and I love the emphasis on farm to table food. But, let’s be honest, the restaurant selection here will never rival Boston’s! So, on our last night in beantown, we got to try one more swanky south end gem: Sibling Rivalry. The dinner was compliments of a giftcard from none other than my sibling:) Sibling Rivalry is unique because the menu was created by two brothers who each interpreted a certain ingredient to create…

Sad + Glad

Travel

Well the vacation is officially over:( Although I’m mostly sad, I must say, I’m a little bit glad after twelve days of travel. I missed my apartment! I also haven’t worked out since last Wednesday, so I’m craving a little sweat. The one thing I’m not excited about at all is getting up at 6:40 to go to my internship. This time yesterday, I was just finishing up a lovely dinner, and this time tonight, I’m already late for bed.…

Beer Heaven

Travel

Immediately after landing yesterday, I was whisked away to beer heaven by Matt’s Dad. Sometimes I miss strip malls… The Wine Corridor was stocked deep and wide with beer and there was one whole aisle dedicated to mix and match singles. The loot: Boy, am I lucky that Matt’s parents love trying new beers as much as I do. I had some of the Java Head stout (which I had on my birthday) and I tried a local Clipper City…

Dough Perfection

Good afternoon bloggies, I practically bounded out of bed this morning because I was so excited to have a free Saturday. Between last week’s case study and our mini-trip, I feel like I haven’t had a Saturday to just do things around the house. Despite how I was feeling yesterday, Friday evening ended up being very nice. It was actually really fun to have an excuse to take a nap on a Friday afternoon, and I woke up feeling ten…

The Twenty-Fifth Year

Twenties

On this day, a quarter of a century ago, I entered the world as the [strange-looking] daughter of Barbara and Cliff. Don’t worry, I grew out of those cheeks (well, kind of). Check out our dresses and the autumn leaves in the background…no wonder we are so fond of fall.  And maybe this explains my love of classic plaids? I pretty much look the same today as I did back then, no? Now that I’m working, having a Monday birthday…
