The Life

Uncategorized

Today was the life… I slept till 8:30 and had oatmeal on the couch while watching the news. I got a ton of job stuff done this morning and then ran a leisurely 4 miles on the treadmill while watching the snow fall. I enjoyed a warm working lunch with Matt (the Habanero wrap is stuffed with ham, spinach, and buffalo cheddar) And I worked on a psych report while sipping a mini beer this afternoon. Matt and I finished…

Serious Toast

Uncategorized

I blinked and the weekend was over.  It was a good one though. Yesterday was spent trekking all over the city, running various errands and re-stocking the refrigerator.  Matt and I made the last-minute decision to meet a blog reader and other foodies at the Lower Depths Tap Room for a gathering hosted by Serious Eats. I was excited to see Harpoon’s latest 100 Barrel series (an oak aged bock) on tap, but I actually didn’t like it at all.  It was wayyy too…

Brrrbon, Banana, Barleywine

Uncategorized

Gotta love nachos. When I was in middle school I used to melt american cheese over tortilla chips in the microwave every day after school (nutritious, I know). Now I rarely get to indulge, so I was pretty excited to make a dent in this platter at happy hour yesterday. We went to Sunset Cantina, which is famous for bar food and a decent beer list. We also ordered fried pickles (which I usually like), but I thought these were…

Friday Food & Fun

Uncategorized

Nothing like coming home to cupcakes on a Friday afternoon:) Kath, Kanz, and I split these three items (leaving the fourth part for Matt): red velvet, butterscotch, and a shot of cappacino. Totally awesome, but a bite of each was just not satisfying enough….I need my own piece of cake!!! After our snack, we headed to the Publick House for liquid nourishment. I started with a Victory brown ale spiked with coffee. It was lighter than other coffee beers I’ve…

Gallows Gobbler

Uncategorized

Half days are awesome!!! I went to work and then came right home again:) I did a quick stint on the elliptical before Kath and Kanz arrived all bundled up and ready for a walk! We strolled down Newbury for a bit and tasted some sweeet balsamics at the Boston Olive Oil Co. before heading back home. It was so brutally cold out and now my body is itching and red with chapped skin:( As soon as Matt arrived home…

More Food, More Fun

Uncategorized

Saturday night, Matt suggested we continue the celebration so we headed out to the Citizens Public House and Oyster Bar in Fenway I had a small Ommegang witte and then accidentally ordered a large Ommegang Belgian Pale ale. I was surprised that I really liked the pale ale; it had a sweeter, lighter finish than a lot of pale ales. Matt and I love splitting a variety of things, so we split the sweet ricotta with honey on crostini, two…

Still Smiling

Uncategorized

Thank you all for the Congrats! I’ve passed them along to Matt. It’s fun knowing that there are Durham readers out there too:) Friday was the perfect celebration. I took Matt to a cute Indian restaurant in the heart of the south end. We enjoyed an awesome bottle of of spicy French wine, compliments of my mom! We chose a vegetarian entrée, so we decided to order the meat appetizer sampler to get a taste of everything. I wasn’t that…

Myers + Chang + Meat

Uncategorized

I can finally cross Myers + Chang off my list, although I’m already excited to go back. The food was even more delicious and unique than I had heard! These kitties welcomed us into the restaurant with their mechanical paws. Mmmm…red wine. The Côtes du Rhône was bold and spicy, just how I like ’em. Matt and I had a difficult time deciding what to order, but we ultimately ordered based on our server’s recommendation. Up first: the sweet potato…

Big Appetite, Small Plates

Uncategorized

YesterDAY was not fun. I sat down around noon at Starbucks to try and knock out my case study, and it suddenly dawned on me just how much work I had to do. Then I threw a minor fit when I realized I had forgotten my lactose-free milk and stormed out of the ‘bucks to go home and retrieve it. This stomach stuff really gets to me because I feel so helpless about the whole situation. The good news is…
