Final Weeks in Brooklyn

Brooklyn Life Ramblings Restaurants

Hello out there. I can’t believe our move is next month. I’m in that weird transition period where I don’t really know how I feel. I think I’m sad to leave and nervous for the logistics of moving. We’ve finally decided on a moving company (why do they all have horrible reviews?).  Fingers crossed, we also have someone interested in taking over the last 1.5 months of our lease, which would be a huge relief. Matt and I are fitting…

More Celebrations + Wishes For This Next Year

Brooklyn Food Life

Lots of celebrations taking place over here! My birthday is only 6 days after Emerson’s, which means we eat a lot of cake in the month of October.  Since my parents helped us eat Emerson’s cake in just 24 hours, Matt got me another one for my day on the 18th.  Em and I made an adventure out of going to pick up the cake at Clementine Bakery in Clinton Hill.  I attempted to go for a run, but there…

Em’s Birthday + Manhattan Getaway

Food Weekends

We had a big weekend over here!  My parents were in town, we celebrated Emerson’s birthday on Friday, and then Matt and I went on an overnight date in the city! We kicked off the long weekend with my mom and dad’s arrival on Thursday. Emerson hadn’t seen them in a few months and was so excited, but then was super shy when they got here. We headed straight for the Gap Outlet and my mom treated Emerson to some…

4 Days in Lisbon

Travel

We’re home from Portugal, and it’s been fun reflecting on the trip these past few days. I like planning trips that have two different parts, so we headed to Lisbon after the beach portion of our trip.  Although I would have loved to stay at the Pine Cliffs the whole time, we wanted to see some of the sights and experience a bit more Portuguese culture. We stopped in the town of Albufeira on our travel day, and after walking…

Back to Boston

Food Travel Weekends

Despite hours in the car and boatloads of New York traffic, we had a terrific weekend in Boston.  It’s hard to believe we moved from Boston in 2011, and have only been back once!  I wish we could have spent a whole week there, visiting the restaurants and our old hood, but we had people to see! We visited friends from grad school up in Winchester on Thursday and Friday, and then friends from Davidson in Boston on Saturday.  Both…

New Food Finds

Cooking Food

TJ’s Green Goddess Salad Dressing – I’m the world’s pickiest when it comes to store bought salad dressing.  The only other one I’ve ever liked was this lemon dressing from Whole Foods. But I like this one!!  And it’s cheap and pretty healthy, so this is a win. Synergy 48oz kombucha – This isn’t really a new discovery, but more of a realization that this huge kombucha is only $8.99 and it’s a way better value that the small ones.…

Pizza Time

Cooking

Would you believe that I didn’t start eating pizza until I was in college??  I didn’t like red sauce as a child, and since there were no other kinds of pizza back then (well at least not in small town Hillsborough), I just didn’t eat it.  When I got more adventuresome (ha, pizza is basic) in college, I become ravenous for pizza, realizing what I had been missing all those years. Fast forward to today, and we eat it almost…

A Week of Eats for Em & Me

Baby Cooking

I received a bunch of requests for more meals, so here they are!  I’m always curious to see what other people eat, especially with little ones. There’s nothing pretty or fancy about these meals – During the week, I’m all about fast, healthy-ish meals, that won’t break the bank. Breakfast Every Day I’ve eaten the same breakfast with some variation for the past six years! Overnight oats made with almond milk, raisins and cinnamon and topped with sliced banana and…

Weekending

Life Weekends

Hi y’all, How it’s going out there? We had a tough week (colds, molars, Matt traveling) followed by a fabulous weekend. Friday was our typical pizza and wine night.  We switched things up by using pesto as the base instead of red sauce (although we used a thin layer of red sauce too), and I thought the pizza was one of the best we’ve ever made. It also had parmesan and mozzarella, chicken sausage, and a blend of mushrooms sautéed…
