On Stress

Life Ramblings The Working World Twenties

Sometimes, I get tired of people (and Doctors) telling me that I’m stressed. I mean, I went to school – stress is that feeling when you have a million exams and tests piled up, right? I haven’t had that school-stressed-out feeling in a while, so I just assumed that I don’t get stressed much anymore. But lately, I’ve been re-thinking that. Perhaps stress just feels different now, especially because I stress about different types of things? I think I can…

Life Twenties

Does the monotony of everyday life ever make you feel like a boring person? I’m not very spontaneous anymore because the self discipline that comes with being an adult has taken over. I once read that self discipline is a limited resource… Since graduation I feel like, as an adult, I’m supposed to just work, exercise, eat healthy meals, and save money during the week. I think the thing I miss most about college is the feeling that the only…

Twenties

Tiring night number five, but hopefully it’s the last! Tonight was supposed to consist of just little cooking and cleaning and a whole lot of relaxin. But it didn’t turn out that way. I got started on the right foot with a quick Indian meal and a beer. This beer was perfect! One of my favorite holiday beers of 2011! After dinner, the plan was to make peanut butter buckeyes, one of my favorite holiday treats. If you’re not familiar…

An Update

Cooking Life The Working World Twenties

Dinner, the highlight of my day since 2011.    I got home late this evening, so I threw together a box of butternut squash risotto that I picked up a whole foods, as well as some brussels roasted in garlic olive oil. Simple, but awesome. Even more awesome, was this homemade peanut butter cup that I dug out of my suitcase. Ashley gave it to me at Foodbuzz and I completely forgot about it. Oh my goodness, was it tasty…

A Foodie Birthday

Amazing Restaurants Twenties

Last night’s festivities were so.much.fun. I just wish the evening didn’t have to end so quickly. Poor Matt had to stay at the library, so my mom & dad picked me up for a progressive birthday celebration. My dad planned an evening in Carrboro to ensure that there wouldn’t be any repeat restaurants. I love trying new places! Our first stop was the Milltown patio for the extensive beer list. I had the Bosteels Tripel Karmeliet and boy was it…

Life Twenties

I hate that the years are flying by so quickly, but I’m always thankful when a new year comes around. I can’t tell you where I’m going to celebrate this evening because I actually don’t know! I have a date with my mom and dad to a mystery location. Here’s hoping the night ends with icing. Although, I’m not sure any cake could top last year’s in terms of the amount of buttercream per square inch. Does anyone have any…

Facts & Brews

Twenties

How many presidents were successfully assassinated? If you guessed 4, you are correct! I went to trivia at Dain’s tonight and had a blast. I didn’t know any of the answers, but the beer was good and I had fun discussing all of the answers with my team. My first beer was the New Belgian Somersault. I’m trying to fit in tastes of just a few more summer beers before fall arrives. I loved the Somersault because it didn’t taste…

In a Year

Life Ramblings Twenties

Happy Birthday TBT!!!    I’ve made it through a year of blogging! Remember this? My first post! On the surface, a lot has changed since this time last year – I graduated with a specialist degree, I said goodbye to Boston and moved south, and I got my first job. But deep down, not much has changed – I’m still on a hunt for good beer, I’m still finding my way around the kitchen, I’m still searching for that perfect…

Ping Pong Dance Party

Travel Twenties

Last night was a fantastic finale to an amazing weekend.  After the pool, the girls raided the grocery store to create an extensive spread for dinner.  I was in charge of making the sangria, which turned out more like margaritas.  We used an online recipe that included tequila and I think the portions were off.  It tasted wonderful, it just didn’t taste like sangria:) But it was strong:) Oh, and there was also a homemade…
