Home for the Holidays

Travel Weekends

We made it home to Hillsborough for the holidays.  It took us forever to get out the door, both because packing for two kids is a whole new ballgame and because Avery had an ear infection and we had to wait for the prescription.

Luckily, the drive went smoothly!

My mom babysat and we stopped by a high school friend’s Christmas party on Saturday night.

Sunday was lazy but we did make it out for my first run in maybe 9 months?!!  I only did a few 3 minute jogging intervals to test the waters, but it felt great!  So much different than last time when I attempted to run right at 6 weeks.

My parents went out to an early Christmas party, so they offered to babysat when they got back; we went out for a late dinner at James Pharmacy, a cute seafood restaurant in downtown Hillsborough.  We enjoyed mussels, Old Bay fries, bluefish dip, and shrimp and grits.  It was only our second time going out alone and it was such a treat!

Yesterday, my sister & her fam arrived and now we have a full house!  Emerson is having an absolute blast with her cousins and is being spoiled with attention.  And Avery already seems so much better since starting antibiotics, so I’m glad I was able to get her into the doctor right before we left.

Matts parents arrive today, and we’ll be going to the Christmas Eve service at my parent’s church, eating bbq + cookie cake, doing a family (well some of us) boot camp, exchanging presents, and just hanging out!  Merry merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate!
