Thankful For It All

Life Travel

Well, I guess it’s clear that cranberry sauce is the least popular of the Thanksgiving dishes! I’m surprised at how many people don’t like the sweet potatoes though… We usually go to Matt’s house in Maryland for Thanksgiving, but this year we’re heading to Bald Head Island! Since our wedding will be on the island this June, we thought it would be nice to show Matt’s parents the venue, the chapel, and the island in general! In years past, I’ve…

Repair the Hair

Life Ramblings

I think the Boston wind damaged my hair. Or maybe it was the ten years of blow drying. I also can’t understand why I have split ends the week after I get my hair cut. Either way, I’ve noticed that my ‘underneath’ hair is in bad shape. And since it’s my wedding year and I have an excuse to worry about frivolous things that don’t really matter, I decided to take charge of this hair situation and challenge myself to…

Thoughts from a Tuesday

Life Ramblings

I saw Argo on Sunday and really enjoyed it. And I loved Ben’s new look:) I heart America! I need a weekly show [not House Hunters] Found this in the grocery store…a little different but so tasty with pita chips: After all the talk of tea in the comments [thanks guys!}, I had a hot cup of peppermint this afternoon! I have kind of a big problem with hydration and tea helps with that too There’s something very attractive about…

Feverish

Life

Today didn’t go so well. I felt worse and worse as the day progressed, until I turned white in a 2-hour meeting and excused myself to go home. A fever, two naps, and lots of chills later, I guess I’m sick? This will be my evening and probably my day tomorrow:( On a lighter note, my sister is turning 30 tomorrow, so I wanted to at least post to wish her a Happy Birthday!!…

Life

As of tomorrow, Matt and I will have been together for seven years. Wow. October 12th was the first time we had an in-depth conversation, and we really haven’t stopped talking since then (slash I haven’t stopped talking because I always seem to be interfering with Matt’s school work:)) Just a couple of weeks before the 12th is when Matt and I first met. And since Matt already went through the trouble of writing out the story for our wedding…

Wednesday Wonders

Life Ramblings

When I can’t think of anything interesting to say, I always look back through all the pictures I’ve taken, hoping they might inspire words. It usually doesn’t work, but old pictures sure are interesting….   …

Life & Listening

Life The Working World

Today, rather than going to work, I attended a suicide intervention training. I found it fascinating. It was nice to be back in a classroom setting, not to mention show up at 9AM! We talked about the stigma of suicide and our personal experience with friends or acquaintances who have attempted or committed suicide. I realized I’ve known quite a few people who have attempted, including a close relative. I am lucky not to have known anyone who has completed…

Summer Highlights

Life Ramblings Travel Twenties

I meant to publish this post on Labor Day, but somehow it slipped through the cracks… My summer quickly came to an end three weeks ago, but for many others, summer officially ended with Labor Day. I was blessed to be able to enjoy a summer off (well, aside from babysitting) and was able to do some neat things because of my flexibility! Here are the highlights from a fun-filled summer: Getting Engaged!!! Being a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding.…

Cooking Life The Working World

I don’t think I’ve ever had so many leftovers in the fridge! I’m so excited that the freezer already has lunches for next week inside. So, last night, I made Caitlin’s Zucchini Quiche Cornbread. I could almost smell the sweet cornbread when I saw it on her blog, and since I had a box of TJ’s mix in my cabinet, it was a no-brainer. Simply delightful! Although, I have to confess, I did add some cheese after this. It was…
