Brooklyn Cooking Weekends

It’s funny, thinking back to last year, I remember being a bit disappointed I couldn’t go out to a fancy restaurant and drink lots of cocktails for NYE.  This year?  I was so excited for a night on the couch with Matt. I planned the menu and Matt went and got all the groceries on Saturday, so we could relax and enjoy Sunday a bit more. I joined the Y last week, so I checked out a total body conditioning…

T-Giving Staycation

Weekends

Hope y’all had a nice Thanksgiving! We had a great time with Matt’s parents. And, of course, they loved meeting Emerson. They were here for 5 days, which meant I got lots of help with diaper changes, dishes, and baby entertaining:) Em loved her first Thanksgiving, although she pooped in her turkey onesie and slept through the meal. The food was delish and came together in no time with the help of Matt’s mom. We ordered a carrot cake from…

Volunteering at LIFT + HG Supply

Weekends

Can you believe it’s almost summer time? We’ve had a lot of rain here lately, but I know the summer sun is right around the corner! I’m really enjoying these quiet spring weekends, as I know the summer will be busy. We opened yet another bottle of wine that we loved on our trip on Friday night – I found this one at a local wine shop. We switched things up this week with fajitas, and I used awesome lime…

Flowers and Javier’s

Weekends

Ahh, spring weekends. This one was simple and relaxed. I had a cold at the end of last week, so Friday was low key and lovely. I made enchiladas and Matt and I attempted to catch up on House of Cards. We’re making slow, but steady progress. Saturday, I went to my favorite class at the gym for one last time, because the instructor will be out on maternity leave:( It was awesome, and I’m hoping there’s a good sub.…

The Blind Butcher and Betty Who

Weekends

This weekend was such a good one, filled with food and other festivities! Friday, Matt and I tried a new neighborhood eatery called The Blind Butcher. The atmosphere (upscale pub/speakeasy), service, and food were fantastic. And we were quite pleased when the bill came to $40! A mint julep and the soon-to-be famous pretzel bread with mustard to start: We ordered the pastrami egg roll appetizer, which was my favorite item of the night. It was crispy on the outside…

The Recap

Durham Weekends

Spring weekends in Durham have been splendid. There’s just so much to do! Friday, we enjoyed a Mexican fiesta at Fuqua Friday, and then watched many talented Fuquans perform on Fuqua Idol. I went to the event expecting to hear some decent singers/musicians and left absolutely blown away! My favorite performer (and the overall winner) sang a fantastic acoustic version of Gaga’s Poker Face. Her voice was beyond amazing. And the Fuqua musical was hilarious. On Saturday, I joined my…
