Boston Bridesmaid

Travel

Wow. What a weekend! I traveled to Boston to be a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding. Everything appeared to go exactly as planned and I had a blast: Friday night, the groom’s parents hosted a lovely rehearsal dinner at the Nashoba Valley Winery. The setting was beautiful and the food fantastic! I sipped on red wine, but the beer was very tasty too! Dinner was a full three course meal and the winery used a lot of fresh, local ingredients!…

To my handsome and wonderful fiance- “Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional” – Chili Davis Here’s to another year of growing young on this incredible journey! Though we celebrated with our families this weekend over a buttercream cookies-n-cream ice-cream cake, you bet I’m taking him out to dinner this evening:) HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATT!…

Easter Eats

Uncategorized

Hola, Happy Easter. I’m currently blogging from bed, where I’m in a cake coma. A glorious cake coma. Let’s rewind though and I’ll tell you about my weekend. It started like any weekend – a spinning class and dinner at Fuqua Friday. Matt had a soccer game on Friday (Duke beat UNC), and I watched [freezing cold] from the sidelines with the other lovely Fuqua partners. It was a low-key Friday, because…on Saturday, Matt’s parents came to visit from Maryland!…

The Balding Cake

Travel

Whew. I made the ferry, with only minutes to spare! I had planned on taking the 7 o’clock, but found myself pulling into Southport at 5:55! I arrived an hour ahead of schedule and was able to join my family for dinner! Warm temperatures called for Mexican beer, hot bread with black bean relish, and a cobb salad covered in toppings! I kept dinner on the lighter side because birthday cake is mandatory every night this weekend. I ordered a…

Saturday Celebration

Cooking

Vacationing is great, but weekends at home can be just as fabulous! Friday night, I had a lot of fun drinking wine and eating pizza with my co-workers. I’m getting sad about leaving them, but was so happy to be able to enjoy a night out with everyone. Saturday was a boat load of fun because I had the whole family over to my place! I think it was the first time it’s ever happened.    Kath & Kanz came…

Red Velvet

I had a very very merry Christmas (and I hope you did too!) Matt and I helped cook Christmas brunch – pancakes and a huge frittata – and then relaxed and opened presents. I asked for mostly consumables and got some awesome gift-cards! Can’t wait to spend them in the new year. We also headed to Duke gardens for a family walk and then to see the movie My Week with Marilyn. It was such an enjoyable afternoon and the…

Durham Travel

My sister is in town because we are traveling to San Francisco to attend the annual Foodbuzz festival (my first!!) tomorrow. Since my Dad just had a birthday, my family gathered in Durham for an evening of celebration. We started at my apartment with some Prosecco that I received as a gift at my Halloween party. Yumm, this was good and very refreshing after a four-day (!) work week. We headed to dinner at Bull City burger, an awesome brewery…

Whew. The past couple of days have been a whirlwind. In fact, the whole month of October has been a blur and it continues this weekend when I head to the west coast for Foodbuzz. I’m trying to savor all the fun events, but time is moving so fast. As my post last night alluded to, my friends and I had margaritas and dinner on Friday night. We then headed to a funky community space/bar called Pinhook for Scaryoke. We…

A Foodie Birthday

Amazing Restaurants Twenties

Last night’s festivities were so.much.fun. I just wish the evening didn’t have to end so quickly. Poor Matt had to stay at the library, so my mom & dad picked me up for a progressive birthday celebration. My dad planned an evening in Carrboro to ensure that there wouldn’t be any repeat restaurants. I love trying new places! Our first stop was the Milltown patio for the extensive beer list. I had the Bosteels Tripel Karmeliet and boy was it…
