Sadness & The Rest of the Weekend

Durham Restaurants

Friday was such a sad day. The news was heart breaking and I just can’t stop thinking about it. My coping mechanism thus far has just been to ignore the media and continue on with the weekend. But each time I learn another detail, it’s sickening and so horrible. Honestly, I didn’t even want to write a blog post because I’m at a loss for what to say about the tragedy. But I know it’s important to talk about what…

Party Highlights

Uncategorized

Just looking at all the party food makes me salivate. The gouda-salami combo is soo good. And every time I make the pigs, they disappear instantly. I ate the leftovers of this today in a burrito and it was perfection. Back when we went to the lake, I had this wine and loved it! My friend Maria was sweet enough to bring a bottle and I chugged enjoyed a glass right away.   And of course, I served the big bottle…

Parade, Party, Prom

Uncategorized

I had a fun-filled and exhausting weekend, starting with a surprise visit from my sister (well I knew she was coming, but my mom didn’t..). Kath had never visited Fuqua, so we took her for our weekly social hour + buffet, known as Fuqua Friday. They had a great spread of bbq and other southern foods. My family got a kick out of the fact that there’s free dinner almost every Friday! We are so spoiled here and sad that…

Pre-Party

Cooking

I spent my evening cleaning! I mentioned on Tuesday that I’m hosting a pre-prom party, and since I didn’t want to put the hard part off until Saturday, I went ahead and took care of all the chores I hate – toilets, shower, cleaning that little space between the wall and the kitchen sink, and clearing off my desk, which tends to get piled up with junk. I feel especially good about these tasks because I’m usually not very productive…

Thoughts From a Tuesday

Clothing Ramblings Twenties

An apple crisp just came out of the oven!!! I’m thinking about skipping the Christmas tree this year:( Matt’s always at school and I just don’t feel the need to put one up for myself when we are spending Christmas at my parents house. Is that Grinch-like and too un-festive? What about you? The senior [business school] prom is this weekend! We’re hosting a pre-party and I couldn’t resist buying this giant bottle of wine from TJ’s. I’m obsessed with…

Island Feast

Travel

We’re having an amazing time here on the island. It’s chilly, but the clear blue sunny skies make up for it. A margarita kicked off the vacation and then we spent most of Wednesday afternoon catching up and showing Matt’s family around the island. Of course, we visited the wedding chapel. It’s so cute! And we enjoyed our Thanksgiving feast at the reception site!! There was Beach House red to start and then tons of family-style Thanksgiving regulars, some with…

Thankful For It All

Life Travel

Well, I guess it’s clear that cranberry sauce is the least popular of the Thanksgiving dishes! I’m surprised at how many people don’t like the sweet potatoes though… We usually go to Matt’s house in Maryland for Thanksgiving, but this year we’re heading to Bald Head Island! Since our wedding will be on the island this June, we thought it would be nice to show Matt’s parents the venue, the chapel, and the island in general! In years past, I’ve…

Dallas Highlights

Travel Twenties

Heyy, I’m back from a fabulous girls weekend in Dallas. It certainly wasn’t a restful weekend, but it was so.much.fun. I’ve been to Dallas a couple of times, but I feel like I got to know the city a bit better this time and I just loved the vibe of Uptown. My friend Liz was such a fantastic host! So without further ado – some weekend highlights: Mambo Taxis [sangria + frozen margarita] and the most amazing shrimp tacos with…

Tired & Happy

Uncategorized

This weekend was such a blast. An anniversary celebration and a trip to the lake all in one! Since Friday was our seven year, Matt and I celebrated with a big bottle of Kasteel Rouge after work. This is the sweet cherry coke beer we discovered in Atlanta. It’s more like drinking a pink champagne than a beer, but it’s soo good! Then we got dressed up and walked to Revolution for dinner. This was our fourth time – we…
