Thoughts from a Thursday

Life Ramblings

-We’ve been using the ferry system to get around sometimes and it’s soooo much more enjoyable than the subway.  Living by the water is fabulous in the summer and I love being able to hop on a boat!

-Em is just in the best stage right now and her personality is cuter than ever before. She’s been happy, taking great naps, and so talkative and hilarious. Also, she had her first kiss yesterday when our [16-month-old] neighbor walked up to her and planted one on her lips!

Picture cred.

-We bought a Vitamix!!  After our Ninja died a few months again, we decided to just do it and saved $200 on a nice model on Prime Day.  I will be buying all the frozen fruit for smoothies this weekend.  I’d love to make some baked goods in it as well, so I’m hoping the cleaning process won’t deter me from using it often.

-This piece about drowning is almost unbearable to read, but it’s an important reminder that drowning is the leading cause of death in children 1-4 and takes only seconds.

-As much as I complained about the weather in the winter, this summer weather is amazing.  We’ve had days in the 70’s and low 80’s and some mornings it feels like fall! With so much to do, I can definitely see why New Yorkers cherish their summers a bit more than southerners (I felt the same way when we lived in Boston).

-I’m trying Stitch Fix again after maybe two years.  I’ve barely bought any clothes since we moved to NYC, partly because my budget is tight but also because I don’t have time (Em hates shopping:() and don’t have a lot of good options around me (either cheap discount stores or high end boutiques, but not a lot in between).  I feel like I’m the one person who hasn’t has success with it in the past, so fingers crossed I can find something I like.

-Any post requests for me?  I’ve got a day in the life coming up and a couple of other ideas.  I think I’m done with baby development updates (she’ll be two soon, tear) unless that’s of interest.

Cleaning a Vitamix is super easy: rinse, fill part way with water, add a small amount of dish detergent, and process this on the blender for a few seconds. Once done, rinse the jar and lid parts and let them air dry. 🙂

it could be cool to hear about what your experience has been like making new friends in ny, whether you’ve joined any moms groups, and how you’re feeling about being home with your daughter now that you guys are a bit more settled!

I totally agree about the ferries – whenever we visit NYC (from the U.K.) we try to use them at every available opportunity. They’re so much better than the subway and pretty much the best bargain in the city!

Share your Stitch Fix box! I’m with you – I haven’t used them in a few years (pregnancies, post pregnancy body, and haven’t been happy with my latest boxes) but I’m thinking of giving it another shot because of a lack of time to go shopping.
