Thoughts from a Thursday

Life Ramblings

-I spent the whole year waiting for it to warm up, and now I’m very excited for some cooler temps. I think fall in New York is going to be amazing. Also, the mosquitos seemed to have finally arrived at the park.

-I’ve taken Emerson to check out two preschool prep/two’s programs for the fall.  She LOVES it, but I’m already sad that she’s grown up and off to school.

-I finally got a good Stitchfix (<–my discount link)!  I liked everything in the box in terms of the style, but I’m finding I’m super picky about how stuff fits or if I have something similar. I paid for the unlimited service ($49 for the year), so I’m going to keep them coming until I actually buy a few items.

-I’m in a bit of an exercise rut again. I’m loving the convenience of the Y and feeling energized and Em is enjoying the child watch room more than ever; but, I just don’t feel that inspired by the music or the instructors right now. I will forever miss Equinox.

-These ‘baby hairs’ are killing’ me.  They must not have started growing until I stopped breastfeeding because they are still so short and don’t appear to be making much progress. What do I do?

-Matt’s parents are going to hang this weekend. Woohoo.  Have a good one!

I’m too picky for StitchFix too. I only tried it once and that was enough for me. I ended up keeping a top so I didn’t waste the $20 fee, but it was definitely not worth the money.

Have you tried Barre3 for exercise? I do the online workouts. They have a free 15 day trial here: https://barre3.com/trial They release a new 30 minute workout each week plus there are a ton of workouts to choose from. Also, these cookies are awesome: https://blog.barre3.com/recipes/b3-cookie/

For your hair – have you tried collagen peptides (sold in powder form that you can put in food or drink)? They’re supposed to be really good for skin, hair, and joints. Might be worth a try?

I haven’t tried collagen, but I know everyone’s talking about! I am good if I can pop a gummy, but not great about remembering to mix something into a drink. I haven’t tried the barre3 online workouts, but I love barre! I just don’t want to have to do something at home, since the childcare at the Y is great and saves me from having to use nap time. Maybe I’ll go order some collagen…

Actually, turns out I have been taking Collagen! I’ve been buying the skin gummys by Olly, and didn’t even realize that it’s in there

How did you get a 49 dollar per year price at stitch fix?!

No idea! Maybe they customize promotions? I just signed into my account one day and it said do you want to pay $49 for the year, and I said yes!

How many days a week would Emerson be going to preschool? My son is a couple weeks younger than her and I decided to wait a year to start since he won’t be 2 til November so he’s still a bit young. However, I think the socialization would be good for him (he’s shy).
Also, the preschools/daycares in this area book up way in advance – they have space still left for the fall?!

We’re looking at 2 day/week classes and all of them require the parent to be with the child (or in the building), so it’s not even real preschool. The 3-hour drop-off programs were all full and too expensive, and I don’t really think she needs that yet. This is more an introduction to preschool:) She’s loved the visits!

Wow she seems so young for school! I am curious about what age kids seem to start school in new York? It seems every state is different. In Canada where we live schools are free (a very small minority of kids choose to go to private school which costs money, but it’s definitely not the norm) and kindergarten starts the year the child turns 4. But children don’t legally need to attend school or be homeschooled until age six.

Yes, definitely young for real school! This is more of a preschool prep class that the parent attends with the child to learn routines and get social interaction. It’s only an hour and a half twice a week 🙂

My oldest is starting kindergarten and I thought I’d put my 2 year in preschool 2 days a week 2 hours at a time but I couldn’t pull the trigger and lost his spot. I’m going to try to enjoy this year with him and he’ll be in preschool next year. They grow so fast!
