Bachelorette in Paradise

Travel Weekends

Good evening,

As I’m sure some of you saw on the Insta, I was fortunate enough to enjoy a kid-free girls weekend to celebrate my sister-in-law! I dropped Emerson off at preschool, and then hopped on a quick flight down to Ft. Lauderdale, FL on Friday. The weather was a tad chilly, but still warm enough for drinks and pool time. We did absolutely nothing but lay on chairs and talk for a couple of hours while we waited for our rooms to be ready and it was glorious.

We stayed at the W Hotel and shared one of the two bedroom suites (plus another standard room for overflow). The hotel was very nice with lovely views out to the ocean from the pool and lounge areas. Plus, there were great restaurants within walking distance.  Friday night, we got lucky with a nice table at a little taco place called Lona. There is nothing better than guac plus fish tacos when you’re at the beach! We called it an early night (I love you, sleep) and I got nine hours in a cold (this is a good thing), heavenly hotel bed.

Even though I slept until 9, I was still the first person up from our group, and headed down to the terrance to drink a cup of tea and enjoy the ocean air (plus FaceTime with my babe).

After a leisurely breakfast of omelets and fruit, we headed to the beach! I dipped in till my waist, but it was cold! We then picked up snacks and hopped in an Uber to the marina for an afternoon boat ride.

We had a pontoon through Staying Afloat Party Boat, and our captain Jamie was awesome.

We cruised the intercostal waterway, docked at a sand bar, spent some time on a quiet beach, and enjoyed a fabulous mellow playlist created by the bride-to-be. It was the most relaxing day I’ve had in…years?

I didn’t know anyone other than the bride, but it was fun to meet some new people at different stages of life!  I don’t think I’ve even been on a vacation with people I’ve never met:)

After the boat, we quickly showered and headed back out to dinner at S3.

From the atmosphere, to the service, to the food, our dinner experience was awesome. And how sweet was it that big brother Matt had figured out where we were dining (apparently I told him a few weeks ago?) and had bottles of prosecco waiting at our table?

We headed out to a downtown bar that was recommended and turned out not to be our vibe (I cannot believe I used to enjoy going to places like this. The guys were sooo creepy). We then made our way to a more mature cocktail bar called The Wilder. I couldn’t quite hang with the younger crowd, so I headed home to bed around 12:30:)

We ended the trip with an incredible breakfast at Mya Papaya!  It was gf heaven for this one, and I enjoyed my dream breakfast of fluffy pancakes covered in pb, banana, and honey.

Sadly, the trip ended on a low note, as I was notified that my flight was cancelled and rebooked for Monday. I called American and begged for other options to get home on Sunday, and they assured me that were was nothing out of the 3 area airports until the following day. I really wanted to get home to see my girl and bc Matt needed to get to work on Monday, so I went to the airport anyway and hoped for some kind of miracle. After an hour in line with an entire cruise ship, somehow an AA agent did something magical and found a seat after I’d been assured there was nothing. I took a shuttle to Palm Beach and was home by 9pm!! [I hate flying].

Congrats to the bachelorette and thanks for giving me an excuse to take a girls trip. What a treat!
