Thoughts from a Thursday

Pregnancy Thursday Thoughts Toddler

-We decided  to screen in our porch!  I figure we’ll be spending a lot more weekends at home and I’ve dreamed of having a screened in porch as long as I can remember.  I’m so excited to see how it looks (hoping it doesn’t make our living room too dark) and to hang out outside when it’s no longer 90+ degrees

-Speaking of fall temps, I’m SOOOO  excited for fall clothes and normal clothes. I actually don’t mind maternity clothes that much (the jeans are heavenly), but I’m ready for more variety in my life. I’m down to only three pairs of shorts that fit! I’m actually thinking about reactivating Le Tote (<–(referral link for free tote) for  a month or two.

-I kinda want to join the FREY wine club because they have so many inexpensive low-sulfate wines.  It would definitely be a pregnancy impulse purchase, so can’t decide:)

-I’m in a serious food rut at lunch – I don’t think I can stomach any more homemade salads, sandwiches, or eggs! I need to make more casseroles so that we have leftovers for lunches, but #noenergy.

Today’s lunch topped with frozen broccolini

-I’ve been having the best week at home with Emerson. She seems to be coming out of the terrible two’s and is just delightful to be around when she’s happy, fed, and rested.  We’ve picked an activity to do every day this week.  I’m thinking maybe a movie or a pedicure for an extra special activity during our last week of summer at the end of August.

-Braxton-Hicks are up to like 6-10 times/day and are making me nervous when they hurt!

-Any cool nursing clothes or companies you’d recommend?  I feel like I didn’t buy anything other than tanks and bras last time around (not really anticipating that nursing would be part of my life for 15 months).  I’d like to have a few more dresses and shirts that are still fashionable (and not maternity) this time around.

-Lastly, any post topics you’d like to see here? As life gets busier, I’m trying to be a bit more organized/structured with blogging, although I make no promises in October:)

I’d love to know you are prepping Emerson for new baby and if birth plan is different now that you’ve been through childbirth before.

Also day in the life and recent eats posts 🙂

K- maybe I’ll do a FAQ post addressing a couple of these questions.

My go-to lunch for my last pregnancy: Thai rice GF noodles (maybe called pad Thai noodles?) with a homemade peanut sauce! Pretty quick to make and if you make a bigger batch-there’s leftovers! Can add rotisserie chicken and/ or whatever veggies.

I would love to know how you prep for each week with your husband being out of the home / traveling a lot during the week?? Do you prefer to grocery shop and get all of your laundry done on a sunday when your husband is home instead of trying to get it done during the week when you’re home alone with Emerson??

Luckily, his typical travel is only 1-2 nights and not every week – on those weeks, I plan really simple dinners and maybe one night of takeout. Even when he’s not traveling, I always do grocery shopping and usually laundry on weekends because I’m too tired during the week:) We’ve also been using Amazon Prime Now for grocery delivery from Whole Foods because it’s worth the extra $10-$15 tip on weekends when we are super busy.

I’m due with #2 around the same time as you (and have an almost 2.5 yr old) so enjoy following your journey. Mentally I feel like I want to do ALL.THE.THINGS. to prep and be ready. But when evenings and weekends come it’s so hard to get off the couch!

Last weekend I got some new toys and books for my daughter to keep her occupied when #2 comes (she’s SUPER active). Are you planning to give gifts to/from Emerson and the baby? I’ve heard that’s a good thing to do but figuring out what they should be…

Yeah, planning to get gifts to/from Em and baby. Was thinking a stuffed animal for baby and a toy/something exciting for Em. And I know what you mean about mentally wanting to do everything!!

Three was WAY worse than two for us. 🙁

@Eliza, same here! We’re deep into 3’s now and, man, its teenage status drama. Also, she used to fall asleep in two minutes in her own bed/own room and now, has not slept in her room for 3 months. She just stopped being a good sleeper out of nowhere!

Oh no – I’ve heard that from some others – seems to be about 50/50 who report that 3 is worse than 2:(

I would love more Day in the Life posts, including eats for Emerson. Also, ideas to do with toddlers!

I love the company Au Fait Mama for nursing tops. You pull down the neckline so don’t have to bother with clips or 2 sides which is nice. Plus, they are super soft bamboo. I also have stuff from Seraphine and Ripe maternity which is beautiful quality and fashionable.
Love reading your blog. Would like to see prepping for baby 2 posts, day in the life, your thoughts on working versus staying home.
