Day in the Life

Life

7:20 – Matt wakes me up as he’s leaving so I have time to feed Avery and jump in the shower before Emerson’s green light alarm clock comes on at 8:00.  Avery has been protesting eating from the left side (why??), so she eats from the right and then plays on the play mat in the bathroom while I take a shower.

8:00 – I’m throwing on some makeup when Emerson wakes up, so I go and get her and we choose an outfit.  She loves picking out her clothes these days and only wears dresses with leggings or tights.  Avery spits up (for the 2nd time), so we get an outfit for her too.

8:15 – We try to eat breakfast efficiently because we have to leave earlier than usual for Emerson’s teddy bear tea at school. I have to quickly pump on the left side so that the milk doesn’t dry up! Avery spits up for the third time!

8:45 – I finally get everyone dressed and in the car and we hit more traffic than usual. Trying not to sweat the small stuff – we are late a lot these days:) Emerson is really into duets so we sing Disney together.

9:10 – We get to Em’s school for the tea. We chat with friends and Em eats donut holes before the girls get up to dance to the piano version of Let It Go.

9:35 – I walk Emerson down to her classroom and then Avery and I head home.

10:00 – I straighten up the house a bit since we left everything in total chaos, and then feed and play with Avery for a bit.

11:00 – Avery goes down for a nap in her crib since she had a really short morning nap in the car.  I change into workout clothes and do a Popsugar video.

11:15 – I pause the video because the landscaping crew is here to try and fix our drainage issue in our back yard.

11:40 – Finish the workout and do a bit more cleaning around the house.

12:15 – Heat up some lentil chicken chili for lunch. LOVE when I have leftovers for a quick hot lunch!

12:35 – I wake up Avery to go get Emerson.

1:15 – Em is excited that we have people working in our yard and wants to go out on the porch to watch the sod go down. She has a snack and then we go upstairs for her nap.

2:15 – Nap is becoming really hit or miss, but Emerson is usually happy just playing games and having quiet time in her crib on days she doesn’t want to sleep. We finally replaced her broken monitor, and I love that I can check in on her again. I hear her acting out a scene from Beauty and the Beast:) I feed Avery and play with her for a bit.

3:00 – Avery falls asleep in her dock-a-tot, so I get out my computer and get a few things done – I prep a Beautycounter newsletter for a Valentine’s Day promo, do some laundry, deal with a bunch of emails, and upload the morning pictures to this post. Big crunchy apple for a snack!

4:00 – I don’t think Emerson ever falls asleep, so I go up and get her.  Our Greenchef (obsessed – referral link if you’re curious) arrives, so we unpack the box, and then get ready to go out on a walk (it hit 70 today!) Em has peanut butter crackers and I have trail mix.

4:30 – The three of us take a lovely walk around the hood.  So excited for spring and evening light!!

5:15 – Emerson finishes Cinderella (she earned a movie over the weekend for filling her cotton ball jar) and I use the time to feed Avery and start prepping dinner.

6:00 – I check in with Matt and he’s estimating he’ll be home at 6:45, so we decide to wait for him for dinner.  Avery is squealing like a crazy person on the carpet and Em plays with her.  Love seeing them finally interact!!

6:30 – Avery is tired, so I put her in the dock-a-tot for a cat nap and finish up the fish for dinner.

6:45 – dinner! This is barramundi with cilantro butter, coconut rice, and pineapple salsa.

7:15 – Matt takes Emerson up for bed time and I clean the kitchen until Avery wakes up.  I play with her for a bit and then take her up for bed.

8:00 – Avery and Em are both down! Whew.  I get out my computer to do a few things and write most of this post.

9:15 – Matt and I catch up on the bachelor and have cereal for dessert.

10:15 – We go up to bed.

10:30 – I feed Avery (she slept through the night the last two nights!!) and read for 15.

11 – Night!

I’m so jealous that Emerson sleeps until 8! Please tell me all your secrets. My son (two weeks older than Em) is up by 6 every.single.day 🙂

haha – she’s always been a pretty good sleeper and has been going to bed close to 9PM these days. We use the Hatch Rest, so some days she is up earlier, but stays in her crib until the green light comes on at 8. We’ll see what happens when we move her out of the crib in a couple of weeks.

I would say there is hope! My daughter is 4 now and would wake up super early as a toddler (sometimes like 5 am early) but as she turned 3 she started to sleep later and later! Now she’s rarely up before 7 and usually closer to 8.
