Life Lately

Life Ramblings

Hello out there! It’s been tough finding time to blog since I started working part-time. I wrestle with the idea of quitting blogging all together, and it always makes me too sad. For now, I’ll still be popping in to share when I can.

Speaking of the job (I’m working as a virtual school psychologist for a bit, since so many schools are struggling with the pandemic), it’s been a big learning curve to return to the field after 7 years! I’m finally in the swing of things, and while it’s been overwhelming, it’s almost always beneficial to step out of your comfort zone, right? My biggest challenge is actually that Avery’s naps started becoming inconsistent right when I started. But, with a little help from Matt, I’ve been able to get started with the evaluations. One student has been waiting since last June:( Getting an inside look at schools this year just breaks my heart!

My house has been a disaster since I started, so I guess tidying up is the thing that has gone out the window!

We are getting very excited for Christmas this year even though it’s a little anti-climactic. We got a small tree in case we needed to move it to a table because of Avery. She LOVES all the ornaments and has been gently pulling them off the tree and carrying them around the house. Emerson has been busy with all kinds of Christmas crafts at school. Her teacher also does Elf on a Shelf, which means I don’t have to:) In all seriousness, I’m glad she’s getting to do lots of Christmas activities at school since we aren’t doing anything out in the community this year.

We haven’t been getting outside as much lately, mostly because we’ve been busy. The reality that winter is here is setting in. I’m thankful we live in the south but socially distant happy hours, takeout picnics, and porch dates kept us going all summer. I’m basically counting down until March when daylight savings is over. What are you guys doing to spice up this extra long winter?

Please don’t stop blogging! I love your blog and insta becuase you are so relatable and just a “real life” mom with a job, kids and a house to manage. Your front hall makes me SMILE because I feel the same way right now… too much to stay “tidy.” Keep it up! But when you need a break, we understand 🙂 🙂

Oh and we just booked 4 nights in Aruba at an all inclusive. No other vacations mean that we had some wiggle room in our travel budget!!

Highly recommend getting a cleaning service to come in 2x a month, if you can swing it! Since both you and Matt are working, start outsourcing where possible.

Thanks – we actually do get our house deep cleaned, but it’s a mess on a daily basis:)

      Hi,

I was working as a learning specialist in a private school, but haven’t worked as a public school psychologist doing assessments since 2013 – I needed a refresher on IDEA, updates to NC laws, and new assessment tools plus learning the virtual platform!
