Life Lately, Birthday Edition

Food Kids Weekends

Hello!

We have been busy lately celebrating birthdays – Emerson, Avery, and I all have birthdays a week apart, so October involves lots of celebrating, party planning, and cake!

We celebrated Avery with a visit to the farm on her real birthday! She was getting over an ear infection and was a little grumpy all day, but by the time the party rolled around she felt better. I think she finally understood that the party was for her when we put a huge cake in front of her and started singing. The kids had a fun time running around and the adults enjoyed brick oven pizza and fall beers.

Avery is in the cutest stage and is really loving life these days!

Emerson turned FIVE and I can’t believe it! She has matured so much in the last year and I’m amazed at all the things she’s learning and observing. She’s obsessed with her friends right now and is almost always acting out some kind of scene or game.

Her birthday fell on a weekday, so we started the day with a few presents and then she brought the most beautiful unicorn cookies from Sweet Cheeks Bakery into school to celebrate with her class. She has the sweetest teacher this year who sent me pictures and a video.

She facetimed with her grandparents and aunts and then we took her to Optimist Hall for her favorite tomato soup and grilled cheese plus ice cream from a gelato place we love. She was in her glory at dinner and really soaked up the day. She seemed to really appreciate her presents (last year was all about quantity over quality;)!

We are having a fancy picnic (she loves Fancy Nancy) on Saturday with some of her girlfriends! I’m not a Pinterest mom, so fingers crossed I can carry out the theme. And then my turn next week!

Hi! I’ve been following you and Kath for years! Do you have recommendations for Charlotte neighborhoods that are good for families? My husband just got a job in Charlotte and I’ve been researching but would love any ideas. We’ll probably both be working downtown. Thanks for any advice!!

Hey! There are so many good ones – check out Elizabeth & Dilworth (expensive and older homes but great schools), Chantilly, Cotswold, and Sedgefield. Send me an email and I’m happy to chat more about each one.
