A Week Off

Life Travel

Hi Friends, Happy spring and happy belated birthday to my mom! I’m enjoying some time off from work for spring break, and it’s been nice hanging out at home. Here’s what I’ve been up to: Burgers with friends on Friday night – they brought their adorable kids, and it was nice to catch up since they are busy, busy. We need to get a grill though because we made a mess in the kitchen with grease flying off the griddle…

Springing Forward

Ramblings

Spring forward brought 88 degrees! I love all the green I’m starting to see. It must mean St. Patty’s Day is near. I had a low-key weekend that included a lot of odds and ends around the house. I love being able to open all the windows and have the fresh air sweep through the living room. Spring is probably the one time of year that I feel inspired to clean. And somehow I convinced Matt to do the toilets.…

This and That

March is coming! Today was the start of the last trimester at school. Where did the year go? Last week was a bit crazy with last minute parent meetings and such. I’m hoping things are quiet for the next couple of weeks. After spring break, I’m teaching part of sex education, so that should be fun! I had the lowest key weekend possible. Friday night, Matt brought home burgers and salad and we brainstormed last minute spring break ideas in…

NOLA + V Day

Travel

Last week was a special one, as I got to travel for work! I went down to New Orleans for the annual school psychology conference. Although the 8-6 conference left me too tired for Bourbon Street, I did have some good southern food at Bayona and Kingfish for dinner. Check out this fish taco platter. On my way to the airport, I also stopped at Seed Your Health for the cashew chili cheese fries, stuffed zucchini salad, and a raw…

Date Night in Deep Ellum

Uncategorized

Oh, hey. It’s been a while and I’m sorry for that. I had a stomach thingy the week before last, and then this week had a bad cold that left me exhausted. But, this weekend it was back to normal. Matt and I had a lovely date night at the new Filament. The restaurant was neat – an old warehouse-esque space with exposed brick and beams in Deep Ellum. The cocktail list was inspiring. I had a mezcal drink that…

Dallas Visitor Numero Dos

Uncategorized

Happy last week in January! It has become a surprise short week, thanks to a lovely stomach bug of sorts that hit Monday night. Before that though, we had a fun weekend. Guac and tequila = sunshine and warmth. On Friday, we made margs with the last drops of this awesome reposado that was gifted to us last year. I hogged the chips while Matt told me all about his week, and then we sautéed some shrimp for tacos. I…

This and That

Ramblings

Settling into 2016 feels nice. Although it was only a 4 day week last week, I was tired! I’m glad to be back in the grove this week. We stayed in on Friday and made a dinner of pork chops with jalapeño cranberry relish, sweet potatoes, and collards. Matt’s sister sent us this awesome smoked maple syrup and we used just a dash in the collards. It’s fabulous with bourbon too. Saturday, was all about catching up on life. But…

Thoughts from a Tuesday

Life Ramblings Travel

-It’s this time of year that I fall in love with Dallas again – the weather has been picture perfect and the best part is that it usually lasts. -I’ve been trying to switch to clean lip balm, and I’m having the hardest time – my lips get so cracked and gross that I go running back to the Blistex. -We had a low key weekend, including Moroccan food at Souk – I loved the lamb tagine, Lebanese wine, and…

Madrina’s Mezcal

Amazing Restaurants

It was a lovely weekend with some seriously delicious eats. My cold took over my life for quite a long time, and it just felt amazing to feel back to normal this weekend. Friday night, we stopped by to see friends as they put their kids to bed. We had a quick drink, and then left them to enjoy their peace and quiet. On the way home, I stumbled upon some sweet potato gnocchi at Whole Foods – I made…
