Not So Haunted Weekend

Uncategorized

Hope y’all had a nice Halloween. Can you believe it’s November? Friday was a glorious evening. I headed straight to Whole Foods for the wine tastings and ingredients for lasagna, and then got the kitchen all cozy with candles and music for a night of cooking. I also picked up this red blend from one of our favorites of the Mendoza trip. I found this awesome black lava salt cashew cheese to use in the lasagna. It was a creamy…

Amazing Restaurants Durham Restaurants

Hello, friends. What’s new? There’s nothing too exciting in my world. Is it ok to start counting down the days until Thanksgiving? I came down with a cold last week, and it’s been lingering for days now. Thus, we had a really low key weekend. I’ve discovered a new Asian-fusion place, so Friday we got takeout and stayed dry from the pouring rain inside on the couch. We watched Jurassic World, and I quite enjoyed it. Loved the panoramic view…

Cooking

I’m wrapping up a great weekend with perfect weather – brilliant sunshine and temps in the high 70’s. I’m thinking about all those affected by the flooding back home though:( Friday night, we stayed in and cooked per usual. Although this sweet potato gnocchi was actually from the weekend before, it’s an easy recipe, so I figured I’d share. Just GF all-purpose flour and sweet potato in the blender, and homemade pasta was born! I sautéed the gnocchi with chorizo…

Ramblings

It’s hard to believe we’re almost to hump day in yet another week. Time is flying and I can’t keep up. Work has been super hectic, and I’m not getting my sleep – either I can’t fall asleep or Matt wakes me up when he comes home late. He was out of town this weekend, so I declared it a weekend of rest! I didn’t take a single picture with my camera, so Instagram shots will have to do: I…

We had a low-key weekend over here – Friday, I cooked some awesome pork chops at home and we drank a little French wine that I smuggled home in the suitcase. I went to bed super early and it was lovely. I was a little lazy over Labor Day weekend, so I used this Saturday for some much-needed cleaning and organization around the house. Lately, I’ve been doing laundry on Sundays, and then it sits in the basket all week,…

Life

How’s it going out there? I’m back in the swing of things over here. The initial craziness of work has died down as the kids get into a routine with their teachers. I know I need to appreciate a few relatively quiet weeks before teachers start sending referrals my way. I’m slowly getting back into waking up early to go to the gym. Matt has gone with me a few mornings, and it makes it one million times easier to…

Ramblings

“I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Columbia Crest. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.” Columbia Crest asked me to share a bit about their unique Crowdsourced Cabernet and Executive Crowdsourcing Officer position. I’m on such a wine kick these days, so I gladly agreed to write about this cool project, and drink some Columbia Crest in exchange:) Columbia Crest is the first winery to start the process of crowdsourcing…

Life Ramblings

I’m taking a break from my trip recaps to say hello! I feel like I haven’t written a regular post in a loong time. Since coming home I’ve spent 91% of my time on the couch, doing nothing and also working on my summer curriculum work for school (which is almost finished, yay!) I’ve basically felt sick for two weeks, and my doctor finally figured out that I have shingles! I’m on the mend now, and I’m just relieved to…

Shopping

School is out and summer is here! We kicked things off with a visit from my parents! We had such a fun, relaxed trip with lots of eating and shopping. On Friday we stayed in and enjoyed drinks on the balcony. It was nice to take it easy at the end of the week and catch up with my parents. Saturday, we got up and headed south for a 3ish mile hike at the Cedar Ridge Preserve. It was hot,…
