As you may have figured out if you’re a reader of Kath’s blog, the practicum Matt was doing was actually in India! He’s been gone for 13 days and he’s finally home!!! It was a bit lonely here, but I kept myself busy with two weekends with family. Last night, we celebrated his homecoming with a beer. He came bearing Indian jewelry and scarves, as well as Indian desserts! These were definitely different, but really good! My guess is some…

I’m home sweet home on this lonely Monday (Matt’s still working at his spring break practicum this week). It’s weird to go from a weekend of people and excitement, to such a quiet apartment. I was able to unpack and get ready for the week though. I was hoping to do laundry, but I can’t find the special card that my apartment requires! Uggg. Anyway, my last night in Baltimore was exciting. My Grandma had tickets to the opera before…

Weekend With Gram

Clothing Shopping Travel

Hi from Baltimore! I’ve been having lots of fun hanging out with my grandma and doing some relaxing with my mom and sister! Obviously, good food has been involved. Some highlights have been the authentic Maryland crab cakes, whiskey sours at the retirement center’s bar, and an enormous bread pudding that I shared with Kath. And the Loehmann’s shopping was fabulous! Though I didn’t find a striped clutch, I found another cute handbag and four dresses! I also found my…

The Night Before Chistmas

Uncategorized

…was tons of fun! I took it easy all day – went for a run outside this morning and put the final touches on my white chocolate peppermint cheesecake this afternoon.    Then around 3, Matt’s parents arrived and the real party started!    We drank beer and chatted for a few hours and Matt and I prepped two pizzas for a late-night dinner. Bacon, mushroom, red pepper on whole wheat and pesto, goat, sun-dried tomatoes, and basil on white.…

Rest Day

Uncategorized

Good evening. Yes it was. I actually spent the day at home. By 10am, I was developing a massive headache, my stomach was out of whack, and my whole body just felt weird. I came home, had soup, and spent the afternoon napping. It’s so weird how I just have these random episodes and then feel normal again. By 5, I felt like it was a new day. I was sad when I left work because I really wanted to…

Stuffing Bread & Split Ends

Uncategorized

I know, I know – what a beautiful dinner. But that dog right there is one of the best sun-dried tomato chicken sausages I’ve had and it’s on the doughiest special Thanksgiving stuffing bread from Great Harvest. I inherited loaves of bread that couldn’t be sold after the bakery was closed for the long weekend. All of I want for dinner is this bread! Tis the season for comfort food. But even better than bread is pie and there’s one…

Thanks on a Thursday

Cooking

Between 2 and 9 o’clock, I had tastes, sips, or pours of all of the following – handpicked by Matt’s mom based on my beer page and preferences. I LOVED them all!! Sooo spoiled:) The weather was so beautiful today; Matt and I went for a jog this morning and then we sat outside, just drinking and talking for a good part of the afternoon. Twas glorious and I’m so thankful to be living in the South! Around 4:30, we…

Stuffed & Happy

Travel

I’m on the plane headed back to RDU:( I was prepared for a very quick trip and it felt like the trip was only a few minutes! After napping and nursing my food coma, Kath and I headed to the 36th floor of the Grand Hyatt to have a drink with a friend of her’s who happened to be in town. Of course I didn’t actually have a drink because I was still too full. The view was fun though,…

Pavillion of Tastes

Travel

The tasting pavilion was definitely the highlight of the Foodbuzz Festival!! My very first stop was the cocktail station for something semi-tropical:) Loved these little cod cakes by a foodie stays fit!! In fact, the Alaska seafood items were some of my favorite tastes of the day. I also enjoyed the apricot chutney on a slice of pork from the girl & the fig. And there were TONS of awesome local cheeses. I was obsessed with the ricotta with a…
