Another Weekend, Another Pizza

Weekends

We had a super relaxing weekeind over here.  How about you? I was craving takeout on Friday, but Matt’s face was so sad when I suggested we skip pizza, that I went out and bought olives and Matt threw together a pizza.

It was a chilly day and red wine sounded delightful.  Matt and I have been watching the new Queer Eye and enjoyed two episodes with dinner. We’re trying so hard to go to sleep earlier, but ended up staying up to our usual 11.

Saturday was a fun day, as we had a birthday party to attend.  Matt ran off to a soccer game, and then we met back up on the streets of Brooklyn to walk to the party.  Emerson had a blast running around, and we enjoyed some friend time and delicious burgers.

I rushed home for nap (Matt went to get his hair cut), and since Em had soaked herself at the water table, I threw a T-shirt from the stroller on her. Imagine her delight when she woke up from her nap and realized dada (unknowingly) had on the exact same shirt!

Saturday night we walked to a local Ethiopian restaurant. The food was good, but the portions were soo small for the cost (not our experience at similar places) and we were charged $13 when we asked for a side of avocado for Emerson.  It was one of those nights where we probably would have been happier staying in at 1/3 the cost.

Sunday, we explored a street fair in the neighborhood and took Emerson to the park.  I love that there are splash pads everywhere, but man is it hard to keep her dry if we stumble upon one.  During nap time, I treated myself to a barre class – When I’m not resting enough, sometimes the spot on my back where I had shingles throbs (so weird, right?) and it’s kinda my signal to slow down. So I’ve been doing more yoga and easy cardio and then I remembered barre. I love the slower pace, but it’s always so hard for me.

We ended the weekend with a picnic (appetizers for us, dinner for her) at Brooklyn Bridge Park. We didn’t last all that long because someone was upset about the gnats and ants that kept crawling on her legs/arms. Ha. I guess we need to play in the grass more often.

Here’s hoping this is the last full work week before the holiday for many of you!

$13 for a side of avocado?? Did you guys say anything? I’m a lifelong New Yorker and I’ve never seen anything like that!

Yup – the line item was ‘avocado salad’ and we explained that we just asked for avocado for our toddler. They reduced it to $11 and said that we basically had the salad minus the tomato and balsamic drizzle:)

I saw your story on IG and that restaurant has really outrageous prices for what you get. I was so disappointed when we went there (and I was still hungry even after the like $80 bill…!) The food was delicious, for sure, but not worth it at all.

Looks like a fun weekend nonetheless and I love seeing toddler years from the distance that I have now with teens/pre-teens. Makes me a bit nostalgic for naptime!
