Thoughts from a Thursday

Life Ramblings

Happy Valentine’s and Galantine’s my friends (although judging from the comments on my last post, some of you are definitely not my friends…joking, kind of).

-I’m pro-Valentine’s because February is a dreary month and it gives us an excuse to eat some kind of dessert and be extra gushy. Matt’s traveling today, but we enjoyed a date night this past weekend at Haymaker and called that our celebration. I also snuck some treats in Matt’s work bag.

-Emerson was sick on Monday/Tuesday and school was cancelled another day (due to an event), so we have had a lot of time at home together this week.  I helped her make her first Valentines for her class and she was so serious about the project:)

-I’m reading Becoming (did I already mention this?) and I’m loving it! There is so much fun behind-the-scenes info about the presidency that I find fascinating and I think even more highly of the Obamas after reading it.

-My parents are coming this weekend, and I’m looking forward to seeing them and showing them around the neighborhood. Too bad it’s supposed to rain the entire time:(

-I saw this cookie cake (it was nearly 2 inches thick) at Whole Foods and the gf version is all I really want in life.  Did anyone else used to get a slice  from those cookie places at the mall?

-Yall, I did the dumbest thing. I accidentally bought caffeine free chai tea  and went cold turkey without even realizing it.  I’ve been super tired in the mornings and having headaches at night, and then I noticed the label on the box.  I’ve been drinking one cup of caffeine for probably 10 years, so I’m sure my body was confused.

-Another funny story – a cop showed up at my house saying he was so glad to report he had uncovered my stolen package in the back of a man’s car (said man was arrested for cocaine and stolen plates).  I had no idea it had been stolen earlier that day, and it contained three bars of soap:)

-We have a rat living in our crawlspace and pest control has been unsuccessful in attempts to remove him.  I know because I can hear him scratching at the floorboards every day.

-I haven’t bought any new clothes in as long as I can remember. I feel like athleisure is taking over my life, which is both good and bad. Anyway, I scheduled a Stitchfix (<–referral link) in hopes I can find a few pieces that are one step up from gym clothes and can get me to spring.

See ya.

Wowza, some angry people in the comments!! Love that someone in the community backed you up though. Your posts are not for comparison and you don’t deserve to be ridiculed or judged from an outsider. Especially when they don’t know your life!!! Hate when people make assumptions and judge. Ridiculous.

Happy valentines day Laura and don’t let those haters get you down!

Wowza! Sorry about those comments. I love reading your blog as a (happily) child free married woman and find the insights into a different type of life really great.

I guess I missed all the drama, lol. Her sweet little face concentrating on the Valentine’s cards is too cute! Oh my gosh, reminds me of one of my daughters so much.

I saw your IG story about the stolen package and shared it with my roommates and we all had a good laugh. Must have been a real bummer for the thief to realize his treasure was 3 bars of soap.

I went back to your previous post and read the comments…ouch. While I understand how using the term “single parent” can be frustrating for some to see when you do have a husband who contributes and is present more than not, the backlash was dramatic. But as one commenter noted, that is likely due to those individual’s personal situations and struggles than anything having to do with you personally. I think you have more friends here, than not 🙂

Thanks:) It doesn’t look like the package thief got a chance to open the goods, but that would have been pretty funny!
