A Sweet Weekend

Weekends

Did Valentine’s Day turn into a sugar fest for anyone else?  It was an exciting  day over here because we got so many fun deliveries.  My mom sent books and a craft.  Matt’s mom sent Lion King stickers and glow in the dark bracelets.  And then some of our  neighbors dropped off treats, including a dozen frosted sugar cookies from Cheryl’s (some of them GF!). Emerson came home from school with all of her class Valentine’s and was so excited for the treats and gifts.  I felt bad I didn’t have a little something for her, but it didn’t matter in the end.

Then Matt came home from work and brought this 6 layer GF cookie + buttercream cake from Milk Mustache Cookies. Haha.  I made Matt enchiladas for dinner.  Em skipped her nap and went to bed early, so we caught up on the bachelor and enjoyed beers + dinner + cake  in front of the TV:)

This little lady also had her 4 month check up, and although she’s not as chunky as her sister, she’s surpriseingly  tall (at least right now).

Saturday, I had a hair appointment that lasted half the day.  I rarely get a cut + color together for this reason, but I really needed both. It’s shorter than I wanted (doesn’t that always happen?), but it’s nice and healthy now!

We tossed around the idea of going out to dinner, but in this season of life, staying in is just more relaxing.  We opened a bottle of wine and we all watched the animated Lion King together.  Matt and I ordered Indian from Copper (so good, but $$ for what you get) and we let Emerson eat pasta on a changing pad on the couch for the first time;  she was THRILLED.  We usually relax the rules a lot on Saturday in an attempt to make it  feel a little bit special. Once both girls were sleeping, we stayed up late to watch the Taylor Swift documentary which I LOVED.

I wasn’t planning on more sweets on Sunday, but when Movethatdough makes GF  cinnamon rolls, you must get them:)  It’s so hard to find them and this one did not disappoint.  Fingers crossed she makes them again! Matt ran out to the juice bar to get the goods and Emerson and I listened to Taylor Swift’s newest album.  After Em has gone wild over Disney music, it’s a struggle to get her to listen to anything else, but she seemed to like some of the songs.

For lunch we picked up sandwiches and then went over to a neighbor’s house to play/ride scooters. I’ve been putting off getting Emerson one just because I’ve heard they are the leading cause of ER visits for toddlers, but I think we are going to have to cave soon.  She really loves it and I think she’ll be out of the stroller some time in the next year. Avery tried the activity table for the first time and was in heaven.  Her mind was blown that she could basically stand up and look around and reach for toys.

I hope you all had a sweet Valentine’s day and a relaxing weekend.

Emerson is older than 3, right? So more of a preschooler than toddler? I definitely see the 3-4-5 year olds on smaller scooters (especially the 3 wheeled kind) And lucky for you she’ll still stay in the stroller at her age! 🙂

My son is same age then Emerson and is on a scooter since last summer (the 3 wheeler one). It is very easy to ride and he understands that he has to wear his helmet and respect security rules. No accident, even if there was some little falls here and there when there are bigger bumps on the roads or sidewalks.

I think at that age with a helmet, scooters are pretty safe! The three wheeled kind are pretty stable. Both my kids rode one so much that even if they are a risk, with the amount of enjoyment and exercise they get it is worth it.
