Life Lately

Life Weekends

Man, I really feel like life has been happening to me lately rather than feeling any sense of control. I can’t keep up! I’m really looking forward to finishing up work and reclaiming my evening time again. Despite the chaos, we’ve been doing lots of fun things since getting our vaccines!!

We’ve gone out to dinner three times and it’s amazing! Spending one-on-one time with Matt and having a break from cooking, cleaning, and bedtime is so essential for my sanity and I can already feel it making a difference.

Also, I did a yoga class for the first time since March 2020 and holy cow! I’ve dabbled with at-home yoga and it doesn’t quite do the trick. Yoga is hard for me mentally and physically, and even though I love the end result, I find I just quit after 20 minutes in my own living room; I really need the group setting to push through. I felt the effects all day, which was nice because I had to take Chester to the emergency vet:( He was lethargic, crying out, and not using his back legs. After a couple of hours and lots of tests, they diagnosed him with diabetes. We are giving him insulin shots every 12 hours and hoping that diet changes can help him get to remission.

Avery’s words have exploded the past few weeks and it’s so fun! She’s also throwing some major fits lately due to frusteration and is over the stroller (so sad!). She’s been sleeping a ton as a results of all the changes I think, which has also been nice. Most mornings, we’re waking up because of Chester or Emerson, and Avery is finally the one sleeping in!

Emerson is finishing her very last week of preschool and I’m sad because she loves it so much. She has had a wonderful year with a great group of friends and a very caring teacher. I’m so thankful her school was able to remain open this year and glad I made the decision to send her back when things were looking very scary. She missed the Kindergarten cut-off here in Charlotte so she’ll be back there for TK next year!

What are your plans for summer? We’re driving to the beach twice and have some camps scheduled, but that’s it! Oh, and we just joined a pool so I’m looking forward to checking it out this weekend!
